Are you planning on getting the Premium package even if you do not get Navi? If so, it's not really like the Navi is costing you $4k. As far as whether you should get it or not, that is really only a decision you can make. FWIW, you can get an aftermarket Navi system like a Garmin. Wayne (GEE35X) has one and I believe he has really liked it.

I guess for someone that isn't interested in the Premium package, you could kinda say that the Navi package will cost them $4k. Maybe that is what he meant.

Yes I really do like my portable unit and I am keeping it for my other vehicle, and I also let my friends borrow it whenever. There are lots of good portables on the market.
I think you are more interested in utilizing the existing display, and I know others have talked about wanting to do this. I really am just a plug and play person with electronics so maybe someone else can give the feasibility of such a project as to what you can do.

I love the Nav. The problem with portables is they are never as good as the factory install. Also the first time you leave the portable in the car someone will break in and steal it. Also remember on trade in time your G will be worth more and you usually get back 1/2 of what you paid for the Nav. So your not losing all the money you originally paid.

If you really need a portable then buy one in addition, I've seem them down to a couple of hundred dollars.

It depends on the dealer and where you are located, but $1k off MSRP seems to be the going rate.......unless your name is Slick.

I think navigation is nice to have, probably even at 2k, but I doubt that upon trade-in it add's back 1/2 of what was paid up-front. That's just not realistic imho.

If all you got for the $2100 was just the navigation itself I would question whether it was worth it. I very seldom go someplace that I don't already know the way to. But, the Navigation Package includes several additional goodies that would make it a fersure for me - XM radio, XM traffic integrated with the navigation, HD audio capabilities and voice recognition (of climate and audio, not just navigation).

I can't see getting a G35 without at least the Premium Package, but if somebody doesn't want a sunrоof, Bose audio, seat memory, Bluetooth, etc. that is of course a matter of personal choice.

Now, if either of my local deаlers can come up with a Spоrt MT for us to look at or even - be still, my beating heart - drive, I can make a purchase decision ...

If ever a factory Navi system was worth it, it would be this current G35's.
