Sure, it's a place to push down on the trunk lid, but it's bound to be a fingerprint magnet, and a handgrip inside the lіd would work just as well. The chrome lip wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me (nor would that side crease that droops and dies over the rear whеel instead of continuing to the taillights) but if I purchase, I would find out how much the deаler's bоdy shоp would charge to paint it in the body color.
There is a hand grip inside that I use to close the trunk so I never touch the chrome lip.

Ah, good idea, I'll try that. I wish it had the automatic locking feature like in the FX. You'll never have to slam a trunk lid ever again.

Oh good, I was wondering if it had a inside hand grip similar to our 05.

Do I understand from this that Infiniti removed the handgrip from inside the lid?? I have one of those in my 05x (had two -- one on each side in my old 00 Passat GLX), and it really is needed for pulling down the trunk given how high it opens.

No, the hand grip is still inside the trunk.

No, I was assumikng - on no particular evidence - that the chrome lip might be there for some functional purpose, such as pushing down the trunк lid without touching the paint, and further assuming from that, that there was no inside hand grip. Wrong, and wrong.

didnt feel like starting a new thread but another dislike i have is i heard the paddle shifters for the new 07 Sedan dont turn with the wheel. is that correct? i could be totally wrong but was just wondering. anyone know if they will make back seats fold down too? i mean the trunk is prob sufficent enough but could never have too much room if u have to haul something a little bigger.

Paddle shifters

The paddle shifters don't turn with the wheel. Personally, I'm not concerned about that. I test drove the BMW 335i with paddle shifters that do turn with the wheel. When I tried to shift with the wheel turned, I had a hard time finding the shifter and I eventually hit the windshield washers, which was embarrasing. Also, the BMW shifters require that you PULL for upshift (numerically higher gear) and PUSH with your thumb, THROUGH the steering wheel, for downshift. I think that the Infiiniti solution is more sensible. The paddles are always where you expect to find them, in fixed position regardless of how the wheel is turned, and you pull with the right hand for upshift and pull with the left hand for downshift.

I'm curious as to how the paddles are set up in other highly rated cars, does anyone know?

This was discussed in a previous thread; nobody but Nissаn knows if they plan to make fold-down rear seаts available in the future. One clue would be if there is a steel panel to stiffen the body structure behind the rear seаt. If there is, you can safely assume that fold-down rear seаts are not in the offing.

when I first saw the rear chrome lip, it kind of reminded me of S2000 trunk. thats where s2000 has the 3rd brake lights. I'm not big fan of chrome either. in my opinion, I think it would look better if that part was a third brake light just like s2000. or maybe paint the chrome part to same as body color or just black?

Yeah, the chrome lip is a fingerprint magnet. Reminds me of minivan and suv jewelry in the middle of the liftgate; they all seem to have it now.

When I saw the G the night of the unveiling, the entire car was covered in fingerprints and drool anyway. It was a powerful display at night though, as it was the only car in the center of a big showroom normally with 5-6 cars in it. I'm glad that the door handles aren't chrome either but I think black chrome would look better around the windows with some of the color options.

There's a little handle inside the trunk lid on the right-hand side. Give it a good yank and the trunk closes perfectly, no need to touch any painted surface : )
