In jail anyone

I heard today someone in a new G on Rte 93 between MA and NH got pulled over and taken away in handcuffs. The G even had temp plates on it. Wonder if anyone we know?

Could that G have possibly been stolen? I hope that's not the case otherwise someone is just a little upset tonight.

That was ALMOST me~

I got pulled over on 93 on my way to NH Speedway for doing 89mph a couple years back. (I was going faster, but slammed on the brakes when V-1 went off, she clocked me at 89mph) The officer wanted to take me in but her radar shows I was doing 29mph over speed limit.... apparently she needed 1 more mph to impound my car) She relunctantly let me going after a 20 minutes lecture and a fat traffic ticker.

I wised up since then, I try not to observe the self-imposed 80mph speed limit.

On a side note - I completely deserved that ticket and respect the officer for doing her job. I would probably get in a bad accident one day if highway patrols don't yank me over once awhile to keep me smart.

I think this car possesses people to drive alittle nutty.

It's WAY to easy to go 90 on this thing. Sometimes I wish I could program a "slow down dumb*ss" warning into the Nav.

Almost me the other day!

Coming back from Hanover, NH Sunday, some black Carrera 4S became my speeding buddy, and I'll agree that this car just floats to speeds almost double the legal limit...

Ask in the Northeast Forum. Hopefully it wasn't someone on this forum. That'd suck. How fast do you have to be going to get taken away in cuffs?

Ridiculously fast!!

...or maybe they were refusing to pull over for a routine speeding ticket.

feel at speed

have to agree- the 07 S feels so much different than my old G- that it seems like the speedo can't be right and familial curves have been straightened

requires a recalibration to avoid rediculous sppeds

30mph over the posted speed limit is reckless driving and you can be put in jail.

Sounds like BS. I got pulled over doing 104 in a 50MPH zone and the cop never wanted to take me in at all. He actually seemed to feel bad for me but said "sorry, there's nothing i can do about this one" and just gave me the ticket.

In NYS, 11 points is what it takes to be put in jail and I don't think 30MPH could do that, that's 4+5 points i beleive...so you get 9. Most of the time you won't get cited for reckless driving if you are just doing 30 over the speed limit.

I'm not sure if you need 11 to get arrested. In NYS, 11 points and your license is automatically suspended, which is automatic if you're >40 over the limit. 31-40mph over the limit, it's 9 points. They may be able to arrest you for reckless driving...which carries it's own 5 points.

The following is the point system for NYS:

1 - 10 MPH 3
11 - 20 MPH 4
21 - 30 MPH 6
31 - 40 MPH 8
More than 40 MPH 11

The full list is here:

So essentially you guys lose your license for even going 100? Down here in Texas I got caught going only 95ish in a 55 and just got a ticket, fought it and got off. I was thinking about moving to New Hampshire but now I am not so sure. 100+ mph is a regular occurrence for me..

Yup...that's why we have to be extra careful... (note to self: invest in an escort 8500). Luckily sitting in NYC traffic, I don't get to do 100mph very often. Moving at 75-80 on the LIE seems like you're whizzing by everyone...haha

I'm pretty sure if you get caught (and written up) for 100+ in Texas, you go to jail. I pay close attention to that one, since triple-digits sometimes just...happen...
