Deal Negotiation Help

OK, so I now need some assistance from you car negotiating veterans...

As you may have seen here, I signed an order this weekend for the car I wanted. I put down a $300 fully refundable deposit so they could locate the car I wanted (dealer didnt have it in stock). It should be coming in either tomorrow or Friday. Here's the cliff's notes:

Dealer A: Offered me $500 above invoice ($3000+ off MSRP), but tried to charge me some BS fee of $270 and I got annoyed and left.

Dealer B: I used the deal from Dealer A and leverage a deal for $400 over invoice and no BS charges. I signed an order with them for the deal and put down a $300 refundable deposit.

After leaving Dealer A and before heading out to Dealer B, I e-mailed Dealer C about Dealer A's offer.

Dealer C: E-mailed me today and said he would do the deal for $200 below invoice. Now obviously I'm skeptical and will e-mail him back now to get the full details to make sure he's not hiding his own BS charges.

But assuming it's as good as he says, what should I do as my next step. Do I wait to hear back? Should I see if Dealer B is willing to match? If they say no, do I cancel (how bad is that)?

Any and all advice is appreciated....thanks!

If dealer C's deal is good with no BS charges and they can get u the car you want etc etc, I would take my refundable deposit from B & sign the papers with C.

Don't fall into the trap of feeling bad for the dealer -- they can sell the car to someone else easily and even if they can't, its not your fault for looking out for yourself.
Its your money

Are you talking about a 2007 G35? or an '06? Hard to believe you can get an '07 for $500 above invoice, let alone $200 below. If that's the offers you got, you don't need any advice from us on this forum!

The only thing I can offer is go with the dealer that actually has the car.

Yup, this is for a 2007 car, which is why I was hesitant to post prices earlier (didnt want to jinx myself), but I need the help now, so I must.

And neither dealer has/had the car (not sure about Dealer C), Dealer B should have it soon since I placed an order for it and I'm supposed to pick it up either tomorrow or Friday. I will check with Dealer C on if he has the car in stock and report back.

sounds like you are doing a fine job if these dealers are legit. you are negotiating currently with one of the dealers you placed an order with?...as in you put down a thousand dollar deposit already right?

+1, I agree. If dealer C's quote is legit, you may as well save yourself some money and go with them. Ketan, it sounds like you are doing well negotiating yourself, good luck man.

Print out dealer C's quote and take it to dealer B and ask for a price match. Then ask for free stuff to sweeten the deal or you will visit dealer C.

I only put down a $300 deposit (fully refundable written on the order) with Dealer B. Dealer A is out of the picture. Still waiting to hear back from Dealer C on his final (total) numbers to see how legit/sweet his deal really is. I just hope he gets back to me soon since I'm supposed to call Dealer B to see when my car will be available.

Thanks...I guess I'm just wondering how binding this order is. The top says "This agreement is not binding unless signed by the seller and buyer", which it is, but then the deposit is written as fully refundable. So I don't quite know how set in stone this is. Am I able to leave it behind if Dealer C's numbers are for real?

All three are ridiculous crazy deals! I'm so jealous. I got over $1000 off MSRP, and I was excited already. Then again, I was one of the first to own the car in the area, especially a 6MT. Go with C! If it doesn't work out, or you hate their service, go to B. Sometimes, even if you save a few hundred bucks, other things come into factor: how far is the dealership, how good is their service, are they throwing in extra goodies (first 3 oil changes free, etc.), and just overall good B-to-C relationship. But if money is your only concern, go with C -- NOW!

Read the fine print carefully, on the back. If the dealer finds the car you want and you change your mind, you lose your deposit.

i know people are looking for good deals but yes there is a big shortage of navigation g's and navigation/tech g's out there. dealers are not swapping a lot of them and keeping them to hold profits up. i've worked on some tight deals leaving customers' names unreveiled b/c they post on the forums but deal with which dealer you feel comfortable with.

my honest opinion, i haven't sold any cars below a certain profit restriction unless i had a few of them.

Damn man. You don't need our help- we need yours. I thought I got a decent (though not stellar) deal, but it was well above your highest deal.

Wow...all three of those deals sound fantastic. Pending what dealer C says, I would say they are all close enough that price alone shouldn't be your only deciding factor. Since they are all so close, I would advise you to consider their service department (Free loaners, free oil-changes, tire rotations...etc)
and distance to your home as deciding factors.

Also, did you have to haggle with them for a while before you got those amazing offers or did they give you those right up front? Keep us up to date!

the long island region is a very harsh competitve zoning. there are 4 dealers in a 40 mile radius and we are all in the top 15 dealers in the whole control.
