Well Here is what I have found so far:

1) The car will accept any size CF card: I am using an 8 gig card.

2) The filesystem is very strange. The limit of the number of files per folder is false as I have had over 500 files per folder and it will recognize it.

3) The total number of files on the card can be unlimited ( I have over 1000) but it will only display and play the first 512 files in the order they were recorded on the card in the filesystem.

4) If you move files in the filesystem from a later recorder folder where they may not be visible to an earlier redorder folder then they will become visible up to the 512 limit.

5) Therefore the practical limit to CF card size is 2 gigs.

^ Great info Arun, thanks for sharing. Having a couple 2BG cards seems like way to go....not really a big deal at all to me. Thanks again!

The system lists the songs based on filename. You can still view your ID3 tag info when you press on the AUX button, then the "TEXT" button on the screen (lower left corner, to the left of the filename list).

Does it stay this way if I do it, or will I have to hit AUX-->TEXT for each song?

I can't confirm, but I would think that if you leave your "text" screen on, and the next song plays, you should see the ID3 tag info for that new song.

Dell Canada

Dell.ca has Kingston 2 GB CompactFlash Elite Pro cards on sale for $49 with free shipping until Dec. 21st. It's a good, fast card.

If the file name is the same as the song name, you don't have to hit any buttons; The file name is displayed on the status screen and the disc screen, so no need to see the ID3 info.

That's the thing, we were talking about changing the filenames for songs that have illegal characters (such as Chinese). Once the filename is renamed, the car will no longer skip those files, but you can still see the ID3 tag. Of course, if the characters in the tag are also foreign, there's a chance you'll only see question marks anyway.
