Two Odd Questions
I don't think they have been asked before but.....
1. How bright is the display on the 7" LCD screen during the daytime? Typical LCD displays don't work well in the daylight, which is the reason for my question. Does the adjustable brightness/contrast work well enough for daytime driving?
2. If you are ripping a CD to the HD, are you able to shut off the car and then resume when you start it back up?

Good question. I don't have a G35, but I checked out the user manual available online. I found this:
So it sounds like the answer is no -- it won't resume when you start the car. It would be tricky to implement an mp3-encoding CD ripper that could do this.
Stopping recording:
To stop the recording, select the STOP button by touching the screen or using the INFINITI controller.
If the CD is ejected, the audio system is turned off or the ignition switch is pushed to the OFF position, the recording also stops.

it wont resume when u turn on the car BUT u can just press 'rec' again and it WILL resume from the last track encoded. This was the first thing I made sure of when I got the car, all in all it's a very good system I'm very pleased.
About the LCD...it's as bright as you could ever want it to be. In the day, at night, anywhere I've never had any problem reading it. the LCD is really really bright.

As someone said the recording is smart enough to know where you left off and if you inseart the cd again after you already recorded it it won't let you record again. Download time is pretty quick, around 3 minutes sepending on how many tracks are on the cd.
The LCD screen is a 1000 times better then my '03. I always had trouble seeing the NAV in my '03 and when I put sun glasses on forget it. The new NAV and screen are great no problems at all seeing it even with sun glasses on.

The LCD screen is so bright -- both during the day and at night -- I have the brightness set at under half way point. Same for the gauges. But if you need the brightness, it's there. Go crazy with it.
