Non-Bose Speaker sizes & locations - HELP!

Guys,

Can somebody with the non-Bose system PLEASE tell me the speaker sizes and locations in the new G? The brocure says it's a six speaker system, so I'm guessing that have a seperate tweeter and woofer in the front.

Secondly, I know the Bose system has 10" subs in the front doors; can anyone confirm if the opening in the non-Bose cars is the same as the Bose opening? What I mean is that I can't think that infiniti would make a different door panel on the non-premium package car, but I could be wrong. If the opening is the same size (even though I'm sure the non-Bose speakers are smaller (6 1/2's maybe) )then it opens up the possibilty of putting 8" or even 10's in the door of an aftermarket system.

Please, if an 07 G owner out there knows the answers I would be ever so grateful. It may make or break my ordering the premium package or not.

Thanks in Advance,

Shoeless

I've added a couple of pics of the premium package door panels, can someone without the Prem package please tell me if yuor panel looks the same around the speaker area in terms of size? Thanks.

Great question. I would also like to know. This may be the better way to go if the locations are still there for the 10's for some good aftermarket subs.

That's what I'm thinking. My only problem with 10" subs in the front would be that I'd have to mount some mids somewhere else on the door panel (I think) because there would be no legit crossover point between a tweeter and a sub. There must be some component system that would do the trick, but I haven't come across one that has anything larger than a 6 1/2 speaker. Thoughts?

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I doubt that you could install an after market 10" in the location used for the SoW. The driver's that Bose uses are quite compact, have little excursion and a very slim magnet. Any decent aftermarket 10" is going to be far too deep.

I think I read in one of the stereo reviews in the master link thread that's stickied here that the speakers for the "studio on wheels" were put in first and then the doors re-designed around them. If that is the case then I doubt the door would be the same for the non-Bose version, but I guess we're going to need some kind of authoritative answer, it is a good idea in theory.

Even if the doors were designed around the speakers (which I don't doubt, as 10" speakers are not common in any OEM system I've ever seen) I don't think that infiniti would would waste the time or the money building a different door panel for the non bose cars. I think they would just reduce the size of the speaker/spacer and call it a day. Just MHO.

I agree that a 10" would be pushing it. Also, a 10" freq range would be WAY to low to just have a tweeter accompanying it. That's why I'm thinking a shallow 8" midbass driver might just do the trick. It's just a thought, people may wind up having to settle for 6 1/2's, but it's worth looking into.
