I have one in my parent's house in San Francisco. I live in an apartment further south in San Mateo, where I have a carport.

+1. The reason you use Dawn's is because it's made to break down oil, grease, and wax where as normal car wash formulas are made specifically to retain wax. If you're going to use Zaino, you should use Dawn's to get rid of prior wax.

Yep, same thing here. The best combo I have found for my black sedan is the Meguiars #9, followed by the NXT. The Z5 is just ineffective and a waste of time IMO. The #9 blends and fills swirl nicely though.

I purchased a Porter Cable and Poorboys SSR 2.5 & 2 to remove the swirl markers rather than just fill and hide them.

Man, you're brave. I wouldn't touch a G's clear coat with a machine. It's the thinnest crap I've ever seen on a car. Hand application only for me.

Nah, not brave.......just a lot more educated on detailing thanks to Kevin (Picus112).

Hmm, first time I've heard that. Contrary to what our mentor Picus112 has taught us.

IIRC Kevin has measured the paint profile.
I don't think there's any problem.

My '03.5 is thin. Maybe I got a paint lemon, but it is the most fragile finish I've had on any car. And I've owned a few.
