Would you spend 35+K if you were not in love?

The 07 G has a lot to love, BUT my question is would you buy it if you thought the looks were just OK?

Thats my problem.

I am having a hard time taking the PLUNGE on an 07 G because the redesigned look does not WOW me in the slightest!

For reference, I give the looks a 6/10.

The rest of the car gets a 9/10 considering what you get for your $, performance,interior...

Just about everything else has me sold...but the looks are holding me back.

So what would you do?

I can understand if you don't like the looks of the 07. Its not for everyone. But i think you should keep looking if your not 100% satisfied. Never Settle. At the 35k level you should be able to find something that you like everything about. I didnt like the 07 at first but it grew on me quick. Maybe it will take more time for you.

You do what I did (though I actually do like the way this car looks). I made a spreadsheet of all aspects of a car that are important to me, then rated every car that I would consider owning for each aspect. I tallied up all points for each car, then applied a cost weighting to it (you may feel that cost isn't significant and not use it). The G won in a landslide.

Consider that the only car in its class up for a redesign anytime soon is the Acura TL. That might make your decision a bit easier.

You feel similar to the way I did about the 06. I loved the performance, handling, and AWD. I thought the exterior was a 7/10 and the interior a 6/10. I waited and drove the 07. I think the new interior and exterior are strong 9/10 for my tastes so took the plunge. For some it's 'only' a car or 'only' 35k. For me I couldn't and wouldn't drop 35k on a car I wasn't in love with. For me the 07 G felt like the car I've been waiting for for years. Finally the right mix of performance, styling, and value with AWD which was a must for me.

Ummm... Buy a car you like?

I think the new 2007 G35 Sedan looks great, even more so when you consider the competition:

Infiniti G35 - The winner. Best looking interior. Best looking exterior.
Lexus IS350 - Exterior looks ok but back seat is way to small.
BMW 3 series - One word. Chris Bangle. Exterior "Tolerable" at best. Interior
looks "plain" IMHO.
Audi A4 - Exterior looks ok. Best quality interior but new G interior looks better.

$35k is a lot for me, so I had better be in love if I was going to spend that much. Lucky for me, my G is my baby!

That is why there are aftermarket parts.

I probably will be spending the 35K even though I'm not in love with the 07 G35. I think it's a nice car with most features I'm looking for, but I drool a little more over the Lexus GS350....a car I would be in love with. They're not in the same class and although I could swing the GS350, I'm cheap and want to save the 10K difference.

Yeah, $35k is a lot to spend on something you're not in love with. I would wait until you find something you really like... I liked 95% of the IS350, but I didn't like the way it looked enough to take the plunge, so I decided to wait until the 2007 G35 came out.

It doesn't matter how much a car costs, if I don't like the looks, I won't buy it. I saw the new G at the NY auto show in April and knew right then that it was the car for me. Just the right size and look. I only needed to drive it to seal the deal.

I've had Audi's for the last 8 years and didn't like the way the new 6 looked or the fact that it keeps growing longer. Interior didn't do anything for me either. I almost bought a G35 coupe 4 years ago, but didnt like the way the interior was finished off. This years G took care of all of those problems.

You have to like it to buy it.

Some of the colors are not flaterring to the G's curves. The more you look at it the more you'll fall for it.

No! That's why I didn't buy an Audi, BMW, Volvo, Lexus or Acura.
