Ipod spot?

Hi all, I just picked up my G35 this past week and am loving it so far. The car is great, but I am having trouble finding a good spot to keep my Ipod when I'm driving. I also have a Motorola Q phone and they are both sliding around the passenger seat.

Any ideas?

What about the cup holder?

My iPod fits in my center console storage - I usually have it on a playlist and shuffle anyway, so don't have to see it.

Do you connect your Ipod/MP3 player using the audio/video input jacks? The reason I'm asking is because I didn't see a single input jack (like in a Lexus IS) primarily for Ipod/MP3.

Also, can you use these audio/video jacks for viewing movies on the LCD screen using a portable DVD player?

Yep, you sure can. The caveat is that you have to be stopped with the parking brake on.

Thanks Shane. It's good to know that.

On the same subject, I know a lot of you have had their 07Gs for only a month or two, but has anyone "hacked" it so you can play DVDs while driving?

I haven't heard anyone that has done that yet, but I would say it is just a matter of time before it happens.

Yep - for audio only I found some monster cables that split into left and right; for video too (as Garnet said), I found one at Circuit City that includes video too. The picture is actually pretty good, but you do have to be stopped with the parking brake on; taking the brake off or rolling will kill the video.

Personally I just plug in the A/V cable and charger from the storage area where they're located and just play out the iPod on the passenger seat, there's just enough empty space that the center armrest will fold down even with the cables
leading out of it.

I don't have a G yet, but I have a neoprene-like sleeve on my ipod nano. I just sit the ipod on the center console of my altima and it doesn't slide around at all.

I keep my MotoQ in the armrest compartment. Only thing is I don't know when people e-mail or txt msg me, which I think is a good thing when I'm driving, so I'm not tempted to read/write them.

Not yet, but when they do, this ipod remote and jack shows ipod menus and album art on your tv screen. http://www.autosound2000.com/ipodadapters.htm
So at some point the remote will be attached to the steering wheel and the ipod menus, etc will be on the monitor, as soon as somebody figures out a hack!!

I picked up a 12V y-splitter to plug my phone and ipod charger into. The phone cable (motorola razr spring style cable) slips just over the lip and out the side of the center console.

The iPod charger is:
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=149006

I don't need video support in my car, and the nice thing about the belkin is a built in headphone jack, so I don't need to worry about two cables (one for audio to the ipod and the other to the dock connector for charging).

Unfortunatley, the belkin has ground loop interference, so I had to pick up a $16 ground loop isolator from RadioShack. This thing has an 1/8" jack adapter, but otherwise uses simple stereo RCA jacks. My center console is pretty full right now, with the belkin, phone charger, y-splitter and ground loop isolator

I just drop the ipod into the cup holder along with the phone.
