Seat Heaters and 30mph Wind Noise (just got back from dealer)

Okay, so to all of you who had the same problem as I did with the seat heaters and the wind noise, they are both fixable (assuming you have the same troubles I do)...

wind noise: It was a loose trim piece, I believe the chrome, on the right-rear passenger door. Take a look, it may be your problem if you're reporting that 30 mph noise as well.

seat heaters: thermostat issue. apparently it was set at a low-ish temperature, they adjusted them to 80F, the maximum setting. if you have weak seat heaters, this may solve your problem.

As for the HU CD-RW read issues, there isn't much they can do, the drive can apparently sketch out of its own accord. Go figure, but it's the way some stuff like that works. Let the board know if you encounter a read problem (mine was a legit CD, it was read by the changer, not by the SOW HU), maybe we can see if there's a pattern or push for a TSB if it's constant.

"they adjusted them to 80F"

Does anyone know how these are adjusted? It would save me a 30 mile trip to the dealer.

As far as the seat thermostat I have as much an idea as the rest of you guys - depends entirely on the mechanism. You'd be best off smoothtalking your favorite Nissan tech - if it's a digital control, who knows where the thermostat control could be, but much like a mechanical t-stat, chances are it's near the heaters.

Anybody feelin' handy?

(btw, now that they're warmer, it feels like the seat itself has heat as well, not just the lower back. i wonder what the oem setting was? also, i was advised that frankly the infiniti seat heaters just aren't that strong - so don't expect butt-flamethrowers like on a MB!)

Interesting my son was sitting on the back seat, right side, and he said he heard wind noise which I couldn't hear, I'm half deaf anyway.

Thanks!

wavelengths,

Great news on the seat heaters. So you do notice a difference since they adjusted them? Also, was your dealer aware of the issue and adjusted them, or did you have to explain and then have to figure it out?

I want to be ready, since my dealer is about an hour away....
Thanks

I just said "I think the seat heater on the driver's side is ineffective or just not working, could you take a look at it?" Car disappears for a few hours, comes back with a somewhat warmer drivers' seat. I was impressed - they really did a great job on the car, quickly, and made it clear to me what had been done.

Well you can figure the trim piece bit out yourself - look at the lower chrome lip on the window - if you can squish it around a bit (yes, very technical term), you may have the source of your issue. If your hearing's going that may be why you haven't heard it - it's a higher pitched sound than the usual wind whoosh.

I stopped by my dealer after work today, and the service department had no idea how to adjust the seat heaters. All they could tell me was there is a high and a low setting, and that I should try high. They think I'm some kind of stupid person I guess. What dealership did you take your car to? Maybe I can ask them about it by email.

Christian, they should be able to find that adjustment in their service manual. Failing that they should be able to contact Infiniti head office to get some service support on this question if they can't find it themselves.

I had the same problem when I took my car in today...they said that they didnt know of any thermostat. Then again they also said that the problem I was having with my steering wheel "back" button was nothing. Finally I had to have them show me a single thing the button did (it doesnt work)...no surprise they couldnt get it to do anything and finally caved that it's broken.

Any help on the thermostat would be appreciated so I can show/tell them about it when I take my car back in for the new button/steering wheel.
