Just curious, what's your new Sedan idling at right after you crank it cold?

When I crank mine it starts off idling at like 2000 RPM which seems kinda high and then as it warms up it slowly drops down to around 1000 RPM about a minute after it's cranked.

Just curious if everyone else idles this high (2000 RPM) when cold.

Yep, same here. Mine idles at cold start at 2k as well.

Same thing here. Maybe its an emissions thing?

Just gives me a funny feeling hearing a cold engine iding at 2K. I always used to let my old 03 G engine idle for about 30 seconds to let the oil get circulating good before reving it up like that.

Mine is doing the same. I read another post here about this a while back. Only happens first thing in the morning.

Haven't any of you guys driven an older car with a choke? The revs are increased slightly when cold for a reason, to keep the car from sputtering. My G only stays at 2k for a few seconds then slowly falls down to the regular idle.

Checked this morning (and it wasn't that cold, only about 50).

Hey guys next time this happenes, try putting your foot on the brake after about 5-10 seconds of the car running...the revs come down a little quicker than normal...tell me if this works

What's the normal RPM for regular idling (once the engine is warm) on the new G?

Thanks Shane. Isn't that too high? The normal idling on my current car is only 700 RPM.

Actually, I take that back. I just went out and started my car to make sure I was correct......it actually idles at 800 RPMs.

My 03 wasn't like this and no I haven't driven a car with a choke.

Must be nice, though I haven't had a choke for some time I have never had a car this nice before. After the car warms up it revs at about 700-800RPM.
