Yep, the 07 G35x was voted by MSN Autos as the best Near Luxury Winter car beating out the Volvo V70.

Why do they consider the G a near luxury car? Its not a maybach but i still consider it a luxury car.

Nah, the OP will have to add it to the list that he made as I am not able to edit his post.

Good find Shane. Hopefully, I won't have to use the AWD that much this winter.

I'm not surprised.

No offense to you guys, as the G35 is a great car, but I'm not a fan of this list of picks. First, it's just one guy's pick of the best AWD car and SUV in various price classes based on his thoroughly subjective opinions. No testing was involved.

I actually don't have a big problem with this. What I do have a problem with is the implication that people seeking better winter traction need a new car, when often all they need is proper winter tires. People email me all the time asking which car to buy because their current car feels unsafe on slick roads. In most cases I tell them all they need is tires suited to winter driving.

If I had to choose between a G35X with all-seasons and a RWD G35 with a good winter tire, I'd pick the latter. Traction might still trail the X, but cornering and braking would be much better. Bad traction just gets you stuck. Bad cornering and braking gets you into an accident.

Of course, best of all would be the X with winter tires.

I disagree, the AWD and All Season tires is better than the "old" G35 with winters.

You corrected yourself in your last sentence.
If it is winter and you do get the white stuff and ice, you are fool not to run winter tires on any car irregardless of what the drive is. Therefore in the winter the X wins hands down for performance in the slick stuff and that is what the review was about.

07G- whichever car is wearing the snow tires will stop better.

yea, driving the G35x in the winter is amazing. car has endless grip (its a little scary until the front wheels kick in)

but other than that - - the cold weather brings ton of squeks and creeks from suspension bushings not designed for cold weather...anoying.

but I guess the 07 fixed all these problems
