I sent an email to K&N asking about when they will have replacement air filters or high performance air intake systems for the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedans and what other types of products are they developing for it. Basically their reply was no products yet and nothing planned. I understand about no products yet, but NOTHING PLANNED? That's disappointing.

All I'm interested in right now is a high performance air filter. Anyone know if there's anything available yet?

I agree.... AMSOIL Ea Air Filters (EaA) are a great product, but too early for them as well.

Get used to it guys....
Unfortunately, this is the prices you pay for being first on the street with a new gen vehicle.

Fortunately the upside more than makes up for minor issues like this.

 

That is what I would use when available , Amsoil filters.

 

Sorry I have to ask but what kind of performance increase does one expect by just changing to just a K&N filter? Tests have shown that you might get 1 or 2 hp. The only reason to go to a K&N is the ability to clean and reuse the filter. Other then that just keep a clean stock filter.

 

If you get 1 to 2 hp per filter, you'd get 2 to 4hp with the G because its got two air filters

 

Trust me...K&N will come out with a filter for this gen. It may not be this year but they will make one. They have plenty of other vehicles to work with and seeing how the '07 G is extremely new, I can see why they have "nothing planned" as of right now. I wouldn't worry though...especially with the '08 coupe right around the corner.

Supposedly the '07 350Z will get the new version of the VQ which will open up the market for new G owners once again. Just a bit too soon right now.

 

Do you guys know if the MAF diameter is the same size as the older VQ engines? If it is, then I say someone try to prototype 2 JWT pop charger filters on there.

I dont have my G35 S yet, but when I do thats what ill end up doing anyway, the JWT pop with a Velocity stack made one hell of a difference on my G20 with gas mileage and a slight performance gain.

I had a '96 Ford Taurus SHO (don't laugh, it was a hell of a car) that you could only tell it had secondaries once I installed a K&N. Then that thing really performed and sounded fantastic. Got better acceleration and fuel economy. Also put one in a 2002 GMC Envoy (traded it in for the G!) and it also performed better.

I'm not looking for HUGE performance increase (would drop in a couple of turbo's for that), just to help the car breathe a little better. Definitely nothing wrong with that.

 

Where are you located? Ever heard of MASHOC (or NESHOC) back in the day? The SHO's Yahama 6cyl. was pretty advanced for its time. Its just too bad Ford dealership didn't know how to work on a "japanese" car.

 

I agree. Many people tend to jump the bandwagon of lets swap the air filter with the first aftermarket product that comes out without giving a thorough thought about what gains (if any) are expected, so long as it's aftermarket...

...I guess, in many cases it's automatically assumed that aftermarket is always better than stock...

 

Actually, I had the V8 version. Very international engine. Block was made in Canada, then shipped to Japan for Yamaha's fine tuning (and it was fine), then final assembly in the US.

I'm in Baltimore and I sure did hear about MASHOC. Was on their website A LOT. Seems like the V8 is getting some bad press regarding the problem with their cams.

The 6 and the 8 were phenomenal engines. Extraordinarily smooth and powerful. But, just like most real good American cars, the car maker decides to can it if it doesn't 1,000,000 a year.

I still would have traded it in for the G!!!
