MT car of the year

Surprisingly, MT didn't seem to like the new G35. And the BMW 3 wasn't even a candidate. There was weird stuff like the Jeep Compass in the running???! Automobile lambasted that model. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is really objective....perhaps we are because we are spending our own money on these potential vehicles...

You have to understand the MT rules. From MT:

"To be eligible for Car of the Year, a vehicle must be totally new or redesigned, and released in the 12 months prior to January 1, 2007 (cars with modifications such as new engines or that are variants of existing models are not eligible)."

If the car is eligble, and the manufacturer supplies a car, they are in the competition. So, the Compass is in (the 3 series is not).

I don't have my issue handy, but I seem to remember that the G35 was one of the finalist, so it didn't pretty well. They just wanted some more revolutionary styling.

Let us know, I read it while checking out of a store. What surprised me was I thought they said they got a vibration from the motor right through the gearshift of something. I thought if anything the powertrain was one of the strong points with the G35. They did do the 6MT in their test......

I think MT didn't favor the G35 more because they feel the new G35 is too similar to the last model. There are improvements, but nothing revolutionary.

MT wouldn't know a great car if it left tiretracks across their collective face... Their snotty attitude compared to C&D reminds me of the Audiophile vs. Stereo Review fights I've read for years in those online forums.

I have the MT, they named the Camry car of the Year and the G35 was a top contender. THey said that it was basically too similar to the old G35 basically.

I don't know where you guys are getting the impression that MT doesn't like the car. It was a FINALIST out of the group of cars. Other finalists included the Porsche Cayman, new Mercedes S class, and Lexus LS460. So, I'd say MT has placed the new G in pretty good company.

Morning everyone;
I haven't posted in a while but I bought my wife the new Camry SE V6(MT Car of the Year) and it's great bang for the buck! I also own an original G35 (2003 with Doggey door). The Camry is fast, faster than my OLD G35 but it is still a family sedan.
Anyway, I have been looking at the new G35 and don't see enough "NEW" to upgrade from my 2003. I sure do love the 335i Sedan and will most likely go there in a couple of years.
Have a great day;

I came from an 03 with the doggy door as well and I can tell you the 07 feels entirely new over the 03. I am not sure what things you don't consider new enough, but I sure think it is a substantial upgrade from the 03.

Anyone that thinks the 07 is too similiar to the previous gen better have a second look. They are not even close to the same car. I think anyone else that went from an 03 to an 07 like myself would agree.

100% new sheetmetal
80% new engine
100% new interior

You must have a very fast Camry or very slow G since any mag tests I've seen wouldn't bear that out.
