Mp3 cd transfer into HD?

I know you can transfer audio tracks from the head unit cd slot into the HD, but I was wondering if you are able to transfer mp3 cd songs too?

No, you are not able to rip an MP3 CD to the HD.

I can just tell.....
Moving tunes to the HD is going to be the most asked & answered question for the new gen G.

Infiniti sure didn't think this one through...

I believe you can get around this by burning your mp3s on CD as wav files, then you can load them into the Infiniti HD. An extra step in some cases, but pretty simple to do nowadays.

It is a major oversight. After using regular MP3 CD's in my non-Nav G, I now have no regrets, (well other than the Nav and tech would be cool), not waiting to get a car with Nav. It works pretty well just playing MP3 CD's, and having the in dash changer gives me lots of flexibility. Moving the changer to the trunk with the Nav HD limitations would suck. Although, I guess the CF card slot would make up for a lot of that, but then the Nav has some sort of stupid limit with that as far as the number of folders/files or something.

They certainly could have done it better....

So what is the easiest way to get a library of about 1000 songs onto the HD instead of putting them on CF cards?

hmmmm....
I didn't think any kind of file could be *moved/copied*
I thought the only way was to rip audio format CDs to the HD.

Do CD-RW discs work alright in this audio system?
Yes... that's what I thought as well.
A PITA, but doable.

Does anyone know exactly where the HD is? It needs to be looked at, there's some serious potential there if it's in the right hands.

I wouldn't worry too much - they tout the ability to update the car's software via the CF card so I'm sure they will fix this issue with an update sometime in '07... let's hope.

Yea, I thought this would be a deal killer also, until I started using the system. After using a six Cd changer full of MP3's in my M35x, I thought I'd have to start all over again in my new G. But, the CF option is sooooo much better than mp3/wma cd's. First, you can fit so much more on a 2 gb CF card than 6 CD's, and second, you can just drop and drag your files to the CF, delete files on the CF, copy some more file to the CF, etc. The quick editing of the CF is alot better than burning new mp3/wma cd's.

The CF card is playing mp3 files which are smaller so you can have more songs on a 2GB CF card than 6 Audio cds.

Exactly. I think G-lanta was under the impression that the trunk mounted CD Changer can play MP3 CDs.
