Filling up for the first time yesterday...

So I was filling up my new G for the first time yesterday (at night) and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to open the gas door. A homeless person of all people told me how to do it. That kind of weirded me out, but I gave him a buck for his troubles...

By the way, I got something like 27 mpg on the 30 mile ride back home. I was pretty happy with that

Don't get used to 27 MPG. During the break in period while you're short shifting and driving the car like an old lady maybe, real world driving, gas mileage goes way down. Enjoy the new ride!

Sorry didn't realize you had a sedan. Disregard short shifting.

Funny story! When I first got my 03 G Sedan, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to open the gas door as well. It was just by accident that I pushed the right side of the door and voila.

Didn't your salesman insist on giving you a walk-through of the car before letting you leave? Obviously I was squirming in my chair, but I had to sit and go over 100 things, THEN get walked outside and be shown almost everything about the car. It was a little annoying since I had already done lots of research, but at least I wasn't looking for a gas door button in the car when trying to fill up for the first time :-)

+1 The guy who helped me was great, I knew more of the car specs etc. than he did, but he walked me through how to set all of the convenience stuff, showed me where everything is...and how to open the gas door

I still have no idea how to open the gas door on a G35. I always get a G35 loaner when the FX is in for service, and I never could find how to open it (luckily never needed to fill up).

LOL, you just need to push on the right side of the gas door and it opens.

Hong, you picked up the car? What kind did you get?...post pics.

Also, I had problems opening it at first too...I was looking for a handle on the drivers side floor like my Civic. Couldn't find it and finally went to the gas door and played around with it till I figured out you just push.

And how the hell did you get 27mpg? I'm still averaging 17.5mpg...I must have a really lead foot or this city driving is getting the better of me.

I'll post pics soon. The 27 mpg was just during a quick 30 mile trip from Oakland to Palo Alto. I was being pretty conscious of the mpg-meter while driving.

Yeah he did give me a run through of the features inside, but I guess we forgot about the 1 thing on the outside...
