FYI, when I said I have my phone charge plugged in 24/7, it's plugged into my 6MT's center console, not the cigarette lighter that's under the head unit in front of the shifter.

It's to the left of the cup holder inside the center console. I feed the cord through the arm rest where those two notches are (you see those two parallel lines just behind the ebrake?):

Q. - "Anyone use the cigarette lighter socket with a radar detector or other device for an extended period of time and not have any problems?"

A - Yes, my radar detector as been plugged in to the lighter socket for a month - no problems.

Same - Valentine One plugged in since the second day we had the car and no issues... Perhaps asking if anyone has had problems would be better?

I'm using the cigarette lighter to power my Garmin c530 nav. No issues.

Seems that noone is having any problems? I wonder why the Infiniti manual recommended against using the cigarette lighter adapter....

Perhaps it's one of those lawsuit things again and this is Infiniti covering their proverbial bums?

My cigarette lighter just lost power the other day. I'll look to see if it is a fuse. Anyone else have this problem yet?

Radar detector has been plugged in there for 6 months now.

I haven't had any problems with mine. I've been using it with my radar detector. So far so good.

Bit of a related question - are those ports full time power? From what I've seen, American makers tend to make the ciggarrette/aux power ports full time where the Japanese tend to make them powered only when the key is in and the car switched to on.

What does Infiniti/Nissan do?

I dont think its fulltime, I noticed I left mine plugged in when I was in the office one day and it didnt charge. Charges fine during my drive though.
