07 G35 Nominated For CNET Car Tech Award (Video)

Yep, the 07 G was nominated for the CNET Car Tech Award. Although it didn't win (the Lexus LS460L won), it's still cool that our G was nominated.

Take a look at the vid below. I am not sure why they didn't test a G equipped with Navi & Tech packages.......afterall this is a Tech Award. Also, when they did show a picture of the Navi, it was a picture of the 1st generation G.

Anyways, here you go.

The G35 was also a runner up to the 335i for "Best Communicator" for integrating voice command technology.

Have you seen the episode of daily planet when they tried out the Lexus intuitive parking assist to parallel park the car? On their first attempt it didn't work, then on the second attempt it worked but it was very slow and they had to pay a lot of attention to breaking to make sure it didn't hit anything. It was pretty funny IMO. It's definitely over hyped, I think the tilting mirrors combined with a backup monitor would be better at this point.

Do the mirrors tilt down in the new G when going in reverse? And, while we're talking about reversing... does the HVAC system go into recirculation mode automatically when you put the car into reverse so fumes from the exhaust aren't sucked in? Lastly, does the HVAC system have a "rest" function to keep the car warm even with the engine off when you run into a shop real quick?

Thanks!

Yeah, I agree Christian. I personally don't care for the self assist parking feature myself. If someone doesn't know how to park, they shouldn't be driving. Also, programming the feature to park in a specific spot requires configuration on the users part. I would really hate to be behind someone on the street waiting until some schmuck programs his car to park.

The G doens't have the automatic tild down, but I kinda wish it did so that I don't have to worry so much about scratching my rims.

Ya, winning based on the parking feature is sort of meh. The Acura RL should have been a contender too.

Interesting about the voice command and the 335i, I don't think the voice commands in it are very good!

I already put a small scratch in one rim backing up. The curb was tall and made of granite.

I've thought about this. If the 2 memory settings for the seats also adjusts the side mirrors, you could set the 2nd memory setting to tilt the side mirrors. This will only work if you are the only driver, which I am

Am i the only one who thinks that if CNET did a video reviw of technology in a vehicle, one would think they would have tested a fully loaded G.. and not shown pictures of a last gen dash? Anyways the tech in this car is by far the best in any vehicle for this class. Only wish they put in those bad *** M seats with the ac/heat option those are pretty cool , always been a fan of the cool air for the juevos

Why didn't I think of that! Can you switch between the two settings while your car is in motion?
