Angry Sirius not Available on Navigation Package?

I had a dealer today tell me that Sirius is NOT available if you get the navigation package. While I had another dealer tell me that's not true, the Sat Radio is just a module that is replaceable at the dealership, as well as orderable.

Does anyone have a 2007 G35 with Sirius & Navigation?

all infiniti's by 2008 will all be XM only w/ navigation since they supply real time traffic

Highly doubtful. Do you have any proof of that? Industry analysts say that by 2008 all manufacturers will offer both options, Companies like Honda who have exclusive contracts are deeply regretting it, and as soon as the contracts are up they will all offer a choice. since it doesn't impact configuration of the car, it's a dealer install options.

Not to mention XM real time traffic sucks, offers nothing to 99% of the NA roads and it's way over priced.

don't doubt me on that b/c Infiniti has a contract with XM to supply all models with real time nav traffic by 2008. in the NYC area it has very accurate readings since they're installing plenty of monitors on all the major roadways on the pavement and utilizing all local traffic sources every minute and a half updates.

i can buy that.
the 2007 G35 with nav is only available with XM because of XM traffic. Sirius doesn't have the traffic info. So why wouldn't infiniti make all nav's come with XM down the road?

Now you've changed your story. Is it an Exclusive XM only contract, or as you just stated above, is it a contract to "supply all models with real time nav traffic by 2008" This makes sense, add the option to the M, Q, etc... which currently don't have nav traffic. But to eliminate Sirius doesn't make sense and goes against industry trend and recommendation.

Not to mention the two companies will most likely merge by 2008 since they are both about equal in subscribers and both are spending absurd amounts of money competing with one another which is crushing profit margin, if they merge they will be rolling in the dough! What happens if they merge, Infiniti will be left out in the cold. I wouldn't be suprised if the merger happens right after Honda & GM release their contracts and offer both services, Most likely Sirius will take over XM.

I wrote if you get navigation you'll get Xm.... if you don't get navigation in your cars then you will get a choice of sirius or xm.

Just wanted to bump this up. The dealer confirmed my ordered car is coming with Sirius & Navigation. The website allowed me to configure it with Sirius the other week, but now I went there and the option is locked out. If the boxes sat reciever boxes are they same then the only issue is the infiniti isn't allowing the software to run it.. that would be a big mistake.

Just wanted to keep this alive. Does anyone have Sirius?

I would go to the dealer to confirm it clearly states when I build and order 07 G`s you can only get Sirius factory installed with premium or journey vehicles and navigation cars only come with XM. I'm looking out to make sure you are aware of that and trust me there are plenty of people that want nav and sirius because of the sports channels on sirius..... the solution is to get a portable sirius unit that's it

When I bought my 07 G35x one of my requirements was Sirius. I've had both and the programming on Sirius is way better IMO. They said flat out no Sirius with Navi so I got the premium with Sirius rather than the Navi option and bought a 479.00 Garmin Nuvi 350 for Navigation that sits to the left of the cluster. Works great great and get to listen to Stern every morning without a crappy addon Sirius receiver. 479.00 is 1/4 of the 2k navi option price and how often do you really use your navi? That's my justification, but it would have been nice if I could of opted for Sirius and Navi...

Man that's a disappointment, and quite possibly a deal breaker. Bad move
Infiniti. I'm going to seriously consider not taking the car if that's the way it works out.

I don't see how the availability of sirius could be a deal breaker, just pick up one of their small portables and hide it in the centre console. With a bit of work I'm sure that there's a way that you could adapt the antenna on the roof to hook into a portable sirius receiver. The only downside I can see to this is the lack of integration with the head unit/steering wheel controls, but if you really like sirius that much it shouldn't matter. To each their own I guess.

Ive seen rumors on the net that there is a merger possible between the 2 satellite companies. XM Merging or buying Sirrus. Now this is really not a sure thing as of yet, but if they do that it should end the choices real fast.
