I have the navigation package and I love it. It works really well every where that I have gone with it so far. The birdview is awesome, it's the only view mode I use. When you have a route set it reacts very quickly when you go off course and recalculates the route automatically. I also love the POI, it guided me right to a TD Bank machine and it even had the bank's logo on screen. I'm from Alberta, Canada by the way.

I love mine and also use the bird view. My navtraffic works particularly well in this area too and twice now when I have entered my route it has alerted me to an accident on the route and offered me a way around.

I like the Nav system in general, but in Austin, TX the real-time traffic doesn't tell you much. When I drove through Houston, it color coded the freeways to show traffic congestion, which was pretty cool.

the real-time traffic kind of useless to me.. it only shows the highway traffic and it doesn't really redirect you... maybe it's the only one route here in San Fran/San Jose

Nav is always real time, so I assume you are asking about XM traffic (real time traffic). XM traffic works good for me. I once wondered why it was directing me off the freeway and I ignored it thinking it was a glitch. Guess what ... I ran into traffic and figured out later it was trying to detour me.

The only thing I don't like is the freeways being shown in red. It matches the XM traffic warning that shows traffic congestion as red lines next to the freeway. I also can not see the traffic congestion line flash (I set mine up to do so).

Wonder how it stacks up to a Garmin nuvi 680, which provides location-based services...traffic, weather, gas, movies, etc.

The Navi in the G has points of interests as well. It also ties destinations to their phone numbers. I don't know if the Garmin does that.

Yes, I am wondering more about the XM traffic part vs the strait navigation system. I think it is an ingenious idea and the wave of the future. I realize the coverage is spotty but hopefully will improve if the system is useful. where do you live? I'd imagine the coverage for some of the bigger cities with a complex freeway systems would be good (i.e. LA). Are you in San Diego?

Have the Nav but the XM traffic isn't available in our area. Wish you could get it.
