Any recommendation which would be the better choice? I'm leaning toward the $179 3M high perf.
Most modern tints don't turn purple like they did in the old days with dye tints. Even the dye tints today come with a pretty decent warranty. I don't think I've ever heard of metallic tint turning purple. Maybe someone else has?

The price of ceramic over metallic is pretty significant. One thing to note about ceramic is that it's supposed to achieve equivalent UV protection while allowing more light into the car than metallic (what my tint shop told me).

Thanks for answering some of my questions. Shortly after getting the $399 quote for ceramic, I got a second quote from another shop that does Suntek ceramic for $189. I'm not sure why there's such a huge gap in price for ceramic tint. Any ideas?

Something seems wrong about that price for ceramic tint on 5 windows. Seems too low. Anyone here ever use Suntek before?

Update on my hunt for the right tint:

I ended up getting Huper Optik ceramic, 30% all around, for $399 at Mother's Tint in Austin. I found out at Sun Tint, the $189 was for the carbon-based Suntek (guy on the phone either lied or doesn't know what he's talking about). They do carry the Solar Gard ceramic for the same price, $399, but they only have 75% and 50%, which were both too light for me.

I'm picking my car up this afternoon, and will let you know how it turns out... From what I heard, Mother's is very good in the Austin area. terrycs, thanks for helping
