Best Ipod cable for RCA hookup w/ video and or charging?
I bought the tiny retractable cable someone posted on here for the $2 or whatever it was (thanks!) but the video doesnt work with it. Is there a decent cable like that thats small enough? I have the gigantic 10ft cable from Monster that I run through my home receiver to play on my TV but obviously thats not going to work in the car.
Ipod cable
I saw a cable at the local radio shack. It is made by Accurian and it plugs into the headphone jack and has 3 rca connectors on the other end. (L and R stereo with the yellow for video) The cost there was $15.
I didn't get it yesterday b/c I don't know if you can get video out of the headphone jack. I'm going to see if I can do some research before I buy.

Thats what this small one has, it has the three pronged for video, but I so far have been unable to get video out of the headphone jack - which I dont think you should be able to do anyway but I'm not 100% certain of that.
it is possible to get video out of a head phone jack (digicams). as to whether or not the ipod allows, this, im not sure. i would think it doesnt. maybe apple makes an rca to docking pin adaptor?!?

If your settings are correct on the ipod, you'll be able to get video from the 3.5mm jack

I believe there are some Sony camcorder audio+video cables that work with the I-Pod as well.
Yes I have it set to prompt me each time I play a video. I guess I will have to go back and fool around with it but I am pretty sure I tried everything with that particular cable.

Apple (as well as other 3rd party vendors) sell a cable that connects to the headphone out of the Video iPod. The other end of the cable has Audio L/R and Video outs that can then be hooked up to the G's AUX inputs. For example:

Accurian Cable
I tried out the Radio Shack cables last night. (Accurian $15)
I got video out of it when I set the output to NTSC on the ipod. I wasn't able to get pictures out though. Hmmm... I'll fiddle around with it a bit more today and see about pictures.

I got the video working this afternoon but it was pretty sketchy quality. If you barely touched the plug it would tweak out of focus and sort of look like you should be wearing 3D glasses to look at it. Thats what I get with a $2 cable I guess. Oh well, at least I got it to work.
I have the Apple cable (I posted the URL earlier). It works great for me. The only issue is that the cable is quite long, taking up more room in the center console. I got a cable that's retractable, but haven't tried it yet. Keep in mind that the video downloaded for the iPod is highly compressed. The video looks good in an iPod, but when you watch it in a larger screen (even in the G35's screen), you can see that the video doesn't look as good as on an iPod screen. Also, you want to play with the aspect ratio setting to make sure it is optimal for you.
