closest competitor.. it would probably be the 07 Mercedes Benz E350 4Matic sport. It was a completely different car than the G35x, however the G was sportier and we got one loaded for around 20- 30K less than what we were gonna pay for the E.

hehe...i'd have to say IS350 and 335Ci..if I had waited longer the 335 sedan would have also come into play. I wistfully considered a used CTS-V as well.

All in all, no regrets. The G's tech is just so much higher...

Excellent way to put things into perspective.

I always said that the 33x are good cars, but NOT for the price BMW is asking for. Good? - yes, Great? - yes. .....So great that I would pay $14,000 MORE for it?

HELL NO.

IS350 - fast, soft, luxurious, small, overpriced
IS250 - wimpy, soft
ES350 - pansy
BMW335i - fast, handles, boring, small, overpriced
Acura TL - Wrong Wheel Drive

BMW 328 - probably the closest competition to G35 direct. The price is not too ridiculous, power is enough but everything is optional. It's like buying a burger that's basicly a piece of meat patty and catsup.

The 335i sedan has been available in the US since mid October.

I feel the about the same as the above. The closest competitor right now is the 2003 G35 6MT I'm driving now. If my dealer can't locate or obtain a 2007 G35S 6MT Platinum Graphite/Graphite +Premium+Nav by about April I'll keep driving mine at least until the 2008 is out - maybe that'll be a 3.7 Litre!
