I'm looking to put tint on my 2007 Sport Sedan with Premium and Nav. I'm considering Llumar all metal tint, Suntek dye/metal tint, or Huper Optik ceramic. I know the ceramic will not have any effects on electonics in the car, but costs over twice the other tints. What effects will the metal or dye/metal tint have on Navigation, XM, XM traffic, AM and FM Radio? Where exactly are all those antennae in the 2007 Sedan? Is the shark fin on the roof only for XM or is it also for Nav? I'm also considering a Valentine 1 or the new Escort 9500 radar detector. They both have sensors in all 4 directions. What effects does the tint have on the radar detectors? Finally, does the metal tint have any adverse effect on on tire pressure sensors which each transmit a signal?

I have 35% Madico metallic on mine (all doors and rear). No problem with electronics.

If you're mainly worried about bad reception, go with a carbon-based tint. Metallic, hybrid and ceramic all can have adverse effects on cell phone, AM radio, and Nav. You might not think ceramic will affect those, but if you're going with Huper Optik, it will have some effects since it's such a thick film.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think 07 sedans still have the antennae in the rear windshield right? If that's the case, then AM radio and Nav should be the only things affected since XM is the wing outside of the car. V1 radar might not work as well since it won't be able to detect well other than through the front windshield. I read about that from another thread.

I just got the Huper Optik ceramic today on my 06 coupe, since I like how it keeps the heat out.

I had SolarGard metallic tint on the Max, and it didn't seem to affect the rear sensitivity of my V1.

The NAV antenna is in the window?! I thought it was int he shark-fin as well!

Anyone know for sure? Does it say in the technical manuals?

I just verified the ceramic tint has no effects on my AM radio.

According to the navi manual (sect. 10-5), the navigation antenna is located on the instrument panel.

Thanks for all your input. Does anyone know if metallic tint will interfere with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The TPMS is a transmitter in each wheel so I was wondering if the reception somewhere inside the vehicle is affected by the metal tint.

I guess the one way to find out is for a car with metal tint to get the air leaked out of the tire and see if the monitor still works.

I'm leaning towards the Llumar metal which Omega Tintwerks uses nearby and they come heavily recommended by G35driver users here in the bay area.

If this decreases the effectiveness of V1 from rear, then I'll just have to out run the CHP.

If TPMS is not communicating properly, you will get a warning light on the dash which I do not. Therefore, 35% Madico metal WILL work. Perhaps someone else can validate the other manufacturers for you.

Just to update, when it get's really hot, say 92+, my current metallic tint has been causing problems on my G. The listed problems go away once it cools down a bit or at night.

1. Keyless entry malfunctioning and won't respond.
2. Tire pressure monitor acting up, blinking while on the road. Manual says TPS malfunction error but actual signal being lost.
3. Navigation malfunction, "Out of Area" quite frequently.


I have Llumar metallic film 35 front windows, 20 rear. And now considering getting my tint redone to a ceramic brand instead.

I got Formula 1 Ceramic tint, and have 0 problems. I wanted to stray away from metallics simply because it does actually cause problems in some cars (BMW comes to mind).
