Now 3 days ago im sitting at work...i go outside to get a pack of ciggeretes out of my car and notice that someone smashed the back of it and took off. One other factor that made me choose the auto was the more relaxed cruising rpm's in top gear. The auto has a taller top gear than the manual.. which is surprising to me since the manual has an extra gear..

are you sure there not the same...i know in 04-06 maximas that was a suprise to a lot of people too that the top gear crusing rpm was exactly the same in stick and auto.

When I test drove it a couple weeks ago it moved for me. Surprised me at first becuase I thought I had something caught on the seat controls.

yep.. the same one who drove the 6speed G35 and who recently sold his Z06 and mini cooper S both with 6-speeds sticks.
The 5AT in the G offers good control and has a very involving interface either by paddles or stick.

Saying that the 6MT is the only way to enjoy the car is just ignorant. I find the 5At to be more suited to this car. Especially with all the vibration in the clutch and stick.. not in tune with the rest of the silky smooth package..

I noticed that on my test drive. Mentioned it to the salesperson and he said he would have it checked out. I could litterally see the stick bouncing left and right. Maybe Ill have to take out the auto next time for a drive.

I don't agree with Road and Track's recent conclusions when they compared the TL, G35, and IS350 (http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....ticle_id=4461), but they did make the following observation:

"A high amount of vibration resonates through the 6-speed manual gearbox, and the take-up point of the clutch is like an on/off switch, making it nearly impossible to leave the line smoothly.

“The pedal engagement feel for the clutch is poor. And because of this, even though we usually applaud cars that come with manual transmissions, I’m thinking that I may prefer this one with an automatic. But I do like the gearbox. The linkage feels positive, and the shift action has a precise feel,” Hall remarked."

Later in the article, they said:

"Although you wouldn’t know it by looking at the ratings chart, this was one of the most closely contested battles in recent memory. One small variation here or there could easily have swung the result in a different direction. For example, what if our G35 Sport was equipped with an automatic transmission?"

As for me, I wasn't really concerned about the manual transmission, since AWD was a requirement for me and it only comes with auto.
