Best protection solution for paint?

I've been looking into Zaino and what not for my car, but I am not really looking for a show car to drive around on a daily basis. My biggest concern for the paint is protection from the elements and what not.

What do you all use for wax and so on? I usually only wash my car about once a month during spring-fall. I'll only my wash my car in the winter if its warm out.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Zaino vastly > wax for paint protection. It's a hassle stripping the wax and
putting Zaino on the 1st time but after that you won't need to do it again for a long time.

You've got two choices when it comes to protecting your paint.......Sealants and Waxes. Both, although different products, serve the same purpose. They will protect your paint from UV, water spots, acid rain, etc.

I've learned from Kevin (picus112) that a sealant is not better than a wax and vice versa. What one you choose is a personal preference more than anything. One thing though, a sealant will last longer than a wax, so if you don't want to apply a product to your G too often, a sealant (like Zaino) may be a better choice for you. I have chosen Zaino sealants myself and have been very happy with the results.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you take a look at the thread below from Kevin. Half way down the thread, he discusses sealants vs. waxes. I've said it many times before, but this thread is a MUST read IMO.

Thanks for the responses so far.

So far as I understand then, Zaino makes a product that will seal the paint and what not, what is it?
What product do I use to strip the factory wax?
Is that all I need to do?

I'll wait until Spring when the factory sealant should probably be replaced anyway (only 1100 miles so far), but I can order it now for when I'm ready.

Thanks,
Chris

AFAIK, no wax or sealant is applied from the factory, therefore completely unprotected. Sealants will seal your paint with polymers and other plastics that will deter fading, oxidation, UV radiation, etc. Sealants will also protect against chemicals such as road salt and strong detergents used in automatic car washes. When you get a new car, it is best to apply a sealant or wax sooner rather than later......IMO.

zainostore.com is a great place for info; washing the car with Dawn will strip all vestiges of wax etc. from the paint, then you apply Zaino (you can also claybar the car, your choice). Don't let all of the directions for Zaino fool you, it's pretty easy to use; I find it easier and faster to put on and buff off than wax.

After that you can just wash with a good car wash soap, and use Z6 or Z8 as a quick spray polish until the next Zaino event. Others here can advise you on longevity, I'll probably Zaino a few times a year.

Ok, thanks for the info so far. I'll look into that website to see about ordering and what not.

Please feel free to post if you have anything else.

Also, I forgot about the leather.

I want to keep the look of the leather as it is now (avoiding the shiny leather look) for as long as possible. What kind of protectant do you all use for that?

Thanks,
Chris

I use Zaino's Leather In A Bottle to keep the leather conditioned. It smells awesome!

Great, I just ordered some of that with the leather cleaner. Also some of the ZCS paint sealant.

Looking forward to getting all the road salt off my car.

Off topic: Good luck with your kid. You'll love the whole experience.

Thanks Chris! Only two weeks or so left and I am looking forward to it. From what I have been told, I'm in for one heckuva ride.
