Do you set your headlights to Auto?

I like the convience of having the headlights set to auto so that they come on when it gets dark out. But it's a bit annoying when it comes one when I go through a tunnel or into a parking garage when really it's not that dark. I don't mind it comming on b/c it's actually pretty cool when the HIDs startup, but I'm just worried that in the long run the bulb will burn out faster.

Also find it annoying that to get to ON you have to pass the parking lights first thus cause it to flash ON/OFF/ON to get to it.

I personally don't use the AUTO feature because I find it annoying that regardless of what time of day it is they turn on when I enter my garage. I figured it was useless to have them turn on for 10 seconds before I turn off the car.

On the other hand if this problem didn't occur I'd leave it on AUTO for the convenience factor.

From my understanding of Xenons, it shortens the life of the bulbs if it's rapidly turned on/off, I don't like how the switch was designed. I would much rather have it Parking/On/Auto b/c sometimes I just want the parking lights on instead of the HIDs.

Exactly! i always have to try to remind myself to flip it off before I start the car and then flip it back to Auto once I leave the garage!! More hassle than convinence

I put this option right up there with auto rain sensing windshield wipers.
Its not that difficult to turn on the lights when they are needed. Doing it manually will help cut down on the unecessary on-off cycles and save you money in the long term.

They probably should have put a 10 second delay on them? Do they have a delay at all?

Yes, it's a little annoying. When I pull into my garage, my garage door's light turns on. However, it's not bright enough to prevent my car's lights from turning on automatically. I tried turning on the fluorescent lights in my garage, which are quite bright, but as my car gets close to the front wall, its lights turn on automatically. My previous car had DRL, and when it got dark, its night lights also came on, but it was less sensitive so they didn't turn on when I pulled into my garage. I'll either have to re-train myself to turn on the headlights manually, or maybe rig something in my garage so when my garage door opens, a light in the front of my garage will turn on (in addition to the garage door's light in the ceiling), so that my car's headlights don't turn on.

I usually leave mine on auto all the time. If there was a 10 second delay and you went into a dark tunnel, it could be trouble...

I leave mine on auto. You can adjust sensitivity and a few other things in the menu.

Always on auto. Doesn't bother me a bit when I go through a tunnel or a garage.
