McIntosh, Dynaudio, JL Audio integration

I am a proud new owner of a G35S NAV. I have had the car for 2 days and have tried hard to be satisfied with the stock sound system. Not going so well. When listening to U2 with the volume at 3/4 and the tone controls flat, I find the bass to be ill-defined and the low end (20~40 Hz) to be non-existent.
My previous ride was an '03 G35 6MT. I purposely purchased it without the bose system and upgraded it with a McIntosh 420M 4 ch amp, 7" Dynaudio 240MKII components, and a JL Audio 10W3 sub in a sealed box. Used LOCs (before the days of Cleansweep, 360.1, etc.) to maintain the factory HU and factory rear speakers. Sounded ok for a hybrid system - definitely better than the one in my current '07.
I am ready to do it all over again but am weary of the potential integration and fit problems.
Anybody out there know the speaker depth for the 10" woofers in the doors? Also, any clue as to the location\specs of the amps and crossovers?
I am willing to spend the time and $ to get the best possible performance using the existing head unit, center channel speaker and rear speakers.

Thanks in advance for your help,
David

I think you will have to be the trail blazer here. I have not seen where anyone has made any modifications to the stock system yet.

I have found that my system has opened up considerably since purchase. You may want to give some time to let the system break in. I doubt it will ever live up to the system you assembled in your 03.

re. "I find the bass to be ill-defined and the low end (20~40 Hz) to be non-existent"

I agree, however I have found that the SOW is more tolerable if you do the following...

a. Set F/R fader about 2 clicks towards the front. For some reason this seems to tighten up the bass some.

b. Bass to the max, treble a couple clicks below max.

c. You won't get any bottom end until you're about at 1/2 full vol. There's a sweet spot a couple clicks over 1/2 full vol where you get a little thump, not much, but a little. Beware, the mids will be hurting at this point. Some say the system sounds better after it "breaks in". I think what really happens is that, in turning the system up loud enough to feel the bass, you take out your mid and high frequency hearing, which makes the bass sound more pronounced

d. Last but not least... Lean your left knee against the drivers side door. You can feel a little vibration. It helps. Seriously.

I love the knee mod. I'll give the settings a try but this pile of old equipment is burning a hole in my garage.

Here is a pic of my old '91 Maxima SE.

What about the rear deck 10" subwoofer? Isn't that what you would really want to upgrade first if you want more bass?

I'm an audiophile/music lover. I can't begin to tell you how bad the "blows" system is when it come to realistic sound reproduction. But I really don't care about the car sound.
I mostly listen to the dual intakes and exhaust note. When I do listen to the audio system.. I don't listen in a critical way and just enjoy whats there. I save the real musical experience for my home system.

That being said, I had the bose system in my Z06. They are hard to adapt as they have weird impedance loads and amps on each speaker. Lots of proprietary garbage that bose likes to use. Good luck in your quest for a descent sound..

I thought about upgrading the audio too, but everything is well integrated, So I'm going to leave good enough alone......for now.

This guy added a sub and amp. I asked how he did it but haven't gotten a response yet.

I'm thinking a line driver spliced into the rear deck sub for the signal, and route all the normal power/ground/remote wires too. (that's the easiest way I can think of)
