I would (and did) go with the Sport

It depends to a large extent on where you live, but I'd tend toward the Sport. How many days of really bad roads do you expect each winter and how hilly is your area? Is there an option to work from home if those days are few?

I'm in the Chicago suburbs, and even here there are probably only around a dozen days per winter with significant amounts of snow on the roads. I have a 3rd car for use in snow and leave the G parked in bad weather.

If I didn't have that, I probably would've still gotten the Sport, then taken the $500 difference between the X and the S and gotten myself a real piece of sh*t to bang around in on snowy days.

What are you driving now? Initially, Bedford wanted me to pay MSRP, but then said they would come down $500 since I was buying another Nissan. When I went to place a deposit, my salseman wasn't available so some old pretentious dude was sent in to "help out". I was turned off by his condescending attitude, so I walked. I asked my Nissan dealer to negotiate the G for me and he got me $1,400 under MSRP.

It sucks having only one Infiniti dealer in the area - they try to play that against you also. Actually, I was in contact w/ dealers in OH, PA and MI. I had a deal worked out w/ a dealer in Novi, MI and they were going to have it delivered to my home, but another salesman sold the car. . You'll be happy w/ the G! Goodluck w/ the negotiations!

RIght now I'm in a 2005 A4 ultrasport (looks like an S4, but has the lawnmower engine instead)

I'm going to hit up the Dublin, OH dealership and I'll probably check Toledo & Pittsburgh too. I'll drive a couple hours to save $1,500 (if I get lucky).

That's pretty sweet what your Nissan dealership did. Does the sales guy get comped on the Infiniti purchase somehow? I wonder if I hit him up if he'd work some more magic.

Thanks for all the info - you gusy have been helpful!

I'm not sure if he gets comped or worked anything out w/ Bedford, but I've been a loyal customer (bought 6 cars from this guy). I told him if he worked the deal I would trade in my wife's Quest for a new Pathfinder - that helped!

FYI, My experience w/ Dublin - not willing to budge on price, and the folks at Cochran in Pitts. didn't have anything at the time I was looking (Nov/Dec) but said they wouldn't come down from MSRP. It may be a different story now. Is there still a dealer in Toledo?? Try Suburban Infiniti outside of Detroit.

I was just there a few weeks ago, and Cochran would only come down $500 from MSRP. They are the only dealer in all of western PA.

Hmm get the X and get the Performance package...your car will look like the Sport but still be an AWD, but it's more expensive I guess

I closed tonight on an X tonight. The deciding factor ended up being that I didn't want to have to immediately go out and buy a winter wheel / tire set up. I got G35x w/ Premium & Nav and the body colored mud flaps. I got it for $38,090, so I'm pretty pumped. Even better news is that they have on on their lot!!! I plopped down $2,500 and I'm going to finalize the loan tomorrow!!!

Thanks for all the help. I look forward to hanging out on here.

LUCKY PIERE!

Aww man, was hoping you'd do the sport.

Congrats on the G though.
