Buying a 2007 G35.....

RWD with winter tires is actually pretty good in snow. I had no problems driving in 2 inches of snow up hills.
The package that comes with sport is very appealing.

I am looking at the 07 or waiting for the 08's but I will get another X and put snows on it as well.
I really think the decision is based on where you live. I agree with all the extras the Sport has I would like those items, but who cares about paddle shifters if you can't get up your street?
To each his own : )
I'm visiting New York City, which recently underwent a snow storm. Right outside where I'm staying, there was a RWD G35 with snow tires (pre-2007). It had managed to pull its front tires out on the street, where there was no snow, but its rear tires were above snow & ice. The rear wheels started spinning. Three people had to help push the G35 to get it going out of the patch of snow & ice beneath its rear wheels. An AWD, even with only season tires, would have easily made it out of the parking spot. There's been a lot of talk about RWD w/ snow versus AWD w/ all seasons. IMO, AWD w/ all seasons is still better. Of course, AWD w/ snows is the best option.

Snow driving requires a different touch to the throttle, brakes and steering, and some people just never learn. Clearly, AWD is better, but unless there's a foot of snow on the ground, I don't worry about getting stuck.
Like you, I've had no problems in the greater Detroit area in 4 years with my 2003 G35 6MT with OEM Goodyear RSA all-season tires. It's been fun this week with all the snow but I didn't want to get my 2007 G35S 6MT until the winter's over so I don't have to deal with the tire change right away.

I was torn between the X and the S for quite a while, but ultimately decided I wanted the S features more than I wanted AWD.
