big engine small filter

I had the G up on a lift today and was very surprized how small the oil pan was and especially the oil filter. You could say the filter looks kinda squarish and around the length of your index finger. Thats pretty much the smallest car filter I ever saw. Granted it allows higher psi, the filtration is very questionable.

I think you can use the slightly bigger Maxima oil filters if you want.

I am sure the engineers at Nissan knew what they were doing when they decided what oil filter to use on the car.

Wow. That is pretty small... what are the benefits - other than the obvious psi and space considerations?

Little filter does big job....
I'm assuming Nissan knows what they're doing...

On my 2005, it used a small filter, maybe the same. I used a larger filter when I changed the oil... the same one for the pathfinder and such, which I believe (interestingly) is also used on the 5.6 engines...

All nissans 2000 and up use that same small filter, even the 5.6 endurance V8 in the Titan... ... I'm sure nissan knows what they're doing if these cars are lasting well over 150k

You can pick up a Maxima filter to get a little bit bigger.. but I think it's sized smaller for a reason...

Picked up 3 K+N Oil filters today hehe
