Sensitivity of Throttle - how to make it better
Sensitivity of Throttle - how to make it better
From my test drive I remember the throttle being crazy sensitive, especially when accelerating from a stop, or below 20mph. I also experienced it on the day I picked up the car and I've seen posts of people saying it was too sensitive.
Well after playing around for a few days I realized what the issue was for me and have since corrected it. here's what I did, if anyone else feels that the pedal is touchy for them.
I realized that I was sitting a little too far back and the ball of my foot was a little below 1/2 way down the pedal and the heel of my foot was about 2 inches away from the base of the pedal, this was based on how I use to drive my other cars, I noticed that all my gasin' was when my ankle was extended forward. and when I got a little heavier on the gas I was on the tip of my shoe. It also made it difficult to start from a stop since it was all toe pressure to break the idle barrier and into some gas. with shoes on, you don't have the feel of the pedal.
The fix was to move my seat up about 1" or a bit more, at first it felt like I was too close, but after a little while It was very comfortable, what I noticed was that my left foot hit the dead pedal flatly and with ease, my right hand rested even more comfortably on the shifter (where previously I felt like I was reaching a bit) and most of all, the heel of my foot was now at the base of the gas pedal. Now when I accelerate it' has a completely different feel and I can control it much better, especially from a stop.
If your still having rough starts, try scooting the seat up and inch or two or double check that the heel of your foot is at the base of the pedal.
Man this thing is a blast!!! Whoooooosh!

The pedal adjusts to your driving habits, at first it is very sensitive but you get used to it as you drive the car more and it tunes itself down. Unless you are driving very spirited then it seems to have the super sensitive touch again for a few miles.

I had to adjust the placement of my foot for this reason as well...since most cars have the fulcrum point at the top, it makes sense to keep your point towards the bottom of the pedal for increased control. But since the G is different and anchored at the bottom, you want to be pretty flat-footed against the pedal so you can control the top of the pedal for increased control.
same here! i usually have the seat back but i found myself scooting it alittle closer to get more control over the throttle. if the ball of your foot just hits it then your jumpin like its no tomorrow.
Guess I'm just used to drive-by-wire from my Maxima (which was also touchy), but am having no problems with the throttle now that I'm used to it.
I think it just takes some time.

The throttle tip ins for virtually many cars made for years now are too sensitive. IMHO this is true with the previous and current version of the G too. The manufacturers design them this way to try and provide an impression the car is more powerful than it is. Lots of acceleration with only small amounts of pedal pressure. It's annoying when they aren't slightly more linear.
