First time. There was a puddle and really didn't acclerate any harder than normal, but the tires slipped a bit and the little light came on. I would of thought the traction would of been better and it would take alot more for the VDC to engage. Guess not.

What do you mean "better"? Your tires slipped and traction control engaged. That means the system is doing its job.

i think he meant that he thought it would take more for the VDC to engage, not just accelerating normally over a puddle of water.

I see my slip light almost daily and I don't think I have a heavy foot... light flashes a few times and the car keeps going straight so I never thought much more of it.

I have seen my numerous times, mainly driving through the canyon on my way to work. The dealer showed me the pages in the manual where it talks about the SLIP light. I will have to go back and get those page numbers. If I remember, the SLIP light is informing you that you are about to slip and loose traction.

Your VDC isnt there to prevent the loss of traction, it only assists you once you have lost traction.

I see the SLIP light during really quick upshifts from 1st to 2nd and the occasional 2nd to 3rd.

Really caught a break when I accidently pulled out ahead of another car and hit 2nd pretty hard without being completely straight...car started to break loose then fell on its face for a second allowing me to back off. VDC definately made up for my poor judgement (or poor driving skills).

Not to jack your thread or get off topic but when the VDC actually kicks in it is for the most part helpful. However when your VDC has a mind of its own and does not like to engage when it should like mine does it really serves no purpose. When it rains and i just happen to take a corner a tad too fast and my back end starts drifting away it would be nice if i could rely on VDC but i cant lol. You should be happy yours is working properly.

Agreed. The light seems to come on at weird / inconsistent times. Some days I won't see it, and other days it seems like every corner invokes it...I'm becoming a bit concerned about the traction from the Bridgestones...

Am also going to recheck my tire pressure.

i SLIP my car often in the 3 weeks i've had it, just like the subaru STi, audis, and bmws before it. but i drive for fun!

I live in the bay area and its been raining recently. I have tried to push the pedal and make it slip, but its really hard... again I have automatic, so may not be the same as when shifting manually from 1st to 2nd. I also have the performance tire package - not sure if that makes any difference... so far pretty satisfied. I also have a Jeep Liberty, that one spins tires more easily than what I have seen on the G thus far. Roads here get pretty slick when it rains.

With my auto X I see the slip regularly (wet or dry) if I'm turning and accelerating from a stop. I'm generally laying into it a bit so it's not surprising. If it's wet I'll see it at any stop light if I have the room to punch it a bit.

You have a powerful car, riding on high performance summer tires. You can expect slippage almost on a daily basis. Everyday I get on the highway from an on-ram that has a stop sign. Every morning, my VDC light come on as I accelerate, and don't even need a heavy foot.

That's exactly the reasons why I previously said that it's a good idea for anyone coming to this 300hp+ car for the first time, to take it to an empty lot and get yourself familiar with the power it has and how easy you can lose traction with it.
