Good grief...who cares if its fwd or rwd. Seriously, everybody acts like they take their car to the track on a daily basis & their life depends on every tenth of a second between one stop-light and the next! If you like the TL better, get it.

Wow, thanks! I actually have an '04 TL now haha. I'm glad to hear that you like the G35S. Thanks to everyone else for their input as well. I am feeling much better about the G.

When I bought the TL in 2004 the other car I was seriously considering was the 2004 G35. Although I loved the G even then, the quality of the interior simply did not match the Acura. That was the decision point for me at that time. Not this time - the 2007 TL was absolutely no match for the 2007 G35S on all points.

First of all, the TL Type-S is still FWD. Even though the HP rating is 286 with 256 ft/lbs of torque, the FWD configuration seems to constrain the TL, even though it is supposed be a high-performance sport sedan. It simply does not have the low-end power (Infiniti calls it "the Swell") like the Infiniti. Then, there is the problem with 'torque steer', especially if you turn off the VSC. If you test drive the TL-Type S, drive it first, and then drive the G. You will immediately notice the diffference. The 306 HP and 268 ft/lbs of torque in the G is hard to beat, especially with the RWD configuration.

Secondly, having had a TL (I also currently have a 2004 MDX) I can honestly state that the Navigation System in the Infiniti is far superior - i.e. the Infiniti graphics are amazing. The TL only offers the plan view, and the graphics are just OK. The only other difference is that the Acura Navi has Zagat Reviews. Both have the Real-Time Traffic.

Also, the ELS 5.1 Surround System is amazing, but you can only hear the effect with DVD Audio disks. There is no simulated surround effect with CD's or XM Radio. Also, DVD-A discs are pretty hard to find, and there is a very limited selection if you do find them.

The one thing the TL has over the G35 is that there are essentially no options - i.e. it comes with pretty much everything. However, if you equip a G35S with the Premium and Navigiation Packages you will be pretty much on par with the equipment level of the TL Type-S. I believe the MSRP for both cars is approximately the same (within $200 of each other).

Hope this helps.

Regards,

As others have said, drive both. Back to Back. I looked at a lot of cars, and kept coming back to the TL-S, and G35. I drove them each a few times.

I picked the G. I liked the AWD over FWD (and RWD). T G feels much more powerful and I liked the handling better. I liked the interior slightly better on the G - but it was close.

I thought the TL-S was a better crusier. More refined. A little quiter around town (not necessarily on the highway). I thought the TL-S was a huge step up from the TL in terms of power. It felt like more than it was.

Overall the G was more fun for me, and for the same price I got AWD.

But as they say, opinons are like....

Go drive them yourself.

VtecVQ,

Your TL is really nice! So I am curious, why are you looking to get the G35?

I traded in my TL only because after almost 3 1/2 years, I had racked up 83K miles. I know that if I kept it it would go for another 100K miles, but I wanted to get as much of the value out the car as I could.

But now that I have the G35S, I am really glad I made the switch.

personally, i didnt even consider the tl, it has front wheel drive...we're in austin, why bother?
When they're side-by-side like that, the TL-S looks better....but again, as many said, FWD.....

That's really unobjective. The next Accord coupe is ridiculous looking. At least it's got great style, what it has under the hood remains to be seen. But as most Honda products go, it'll dominate its segment. My next car will hopefully be a Honda. I dunno, there has to be some point where we just outgrow the hate it just because syndrome. It's like hating Sony. Samsung is to Sony as Infiniti is to BMW imho.

Just another FWD vehicle..............

If I was going to buy a vehicle with those extra doors I'd be looking hard at
the RL that's AWD and a top of the line sedan.

Thanks! I'm looking to get the G because my lease is up in July. I have about 32K miles on it now. It's really a great second car for me...my first was an Acura RSX. It will be hard to leave Acura, but the only Acura that interests me now is the MDX.

I've considered the 335i, but it's just not me. The IS350 is way too small in the rear. So, the G is looking pretty good. Hopefully I can get a good lease rate on it.
