I had to rent a car for a few days since mine is going into the shop for 2-4 days this week. Went to the rental place and rented a 2007 G35X. I was hoping for the Sport, but they didn't have one available. Here are my impressions.
The interior is nice. Much better than the 04 coupe that's my daily driver. Fit and finish is good with soft buttons and materials. I was impressed. Leather seats are comfortable and roomy, much softer than the 04 leather seats. Not much bolstering on either side of the seat though.
The car is pretty quiet, I guess I'm used to more engine and exhaust noise from my 04 coupe. The auto tranny is nice, shifts are decent and the car accelerates well. The only problem I have with it is the gas pedal seems attached to the floor at the bottom of the pedal. Takes some getting used to w/ the throttle as well. Seems odd since there seems to be a slight delay in accelerating from a stop if you just slight press the accelerator. Mash it, and it takes off well. Exhaust note is nice, deep & throaty, yet not obtrusive at all.
The car had like 26 miles on the odometer when I rented it this morning. Since it's not broken in, I didn't want to flog it too much since it's brand new...but I couldn't resist. Mash the pedal and they thing just takes off. It's definately a good looking car and it performs well. I have a few days to play with it and will see what it can do. I can see why you guys are lining up for the 07. Not bad at all

.Glad to hear you liked it. Too bad you didn't get the Sport, as the seats in the Sport provide better bolstering like your Coupe seats do. Have fun with it the next few days.

Rental car... the only true all terrain vehicle...
Love the gauge cluster!!! The white numbers w/ purple & red...that's hotness!
And the audio system isn't bad at all! I don't know if it has the studio on wheels or not, but good all around sound.

They (the rental company) KNOW a good flogging is on the way. Whether it be from you or someone else.
Don't settle for sloppy seconds...

+1
If you think the AWD is nice, wait until you drive a sport model.

None that I know of in my area.
There's a Budget Rental near where I live. They rent premium autos...Infiniti, BMW, Mercedes, Hummers etc. It's not cheap, but when I saw they had it, I just had to rent it. To be honest, I really wanted the 335i.
