Picking up G35x- What are they going to try and sell me?
Finally!! I got the call Saturday night. I expect them to try and sell an extended warranty, etching, maybe tint? What have you all experienced. (BTW, i gave up on the wood...you guys really had me thinking I was old..)
CONGRATS! LOL. Wood doesn't make you old... wait. that didn't sound right
I had no pressure at my dealer - but the typical stuff is lojack or some sort of alarm, paint sealant, leather sealant.
That's all that comes to mind.
I'd say NO to all of it - and get it done later if you really want it.

Nice choice! They usually offer that stuff though when you buy the car, not when you pick it up. Also, be sure to update your sig (remove the wood since you didn't get it) and most importantly, PICS!
There are so many things they try to sell that don't really exist. Paint sealant, underbody sealant, "protection packages", warranties, etc.
They will try to sell window etching. Even if the car already has it, just tell them that you don't want it, and that you are not paying for it. Also, beware of the wheel locks! They tried to add these on to the price of the last 3 cars that I bought for $99 without even asking. You can pick up a set of the exact same locks (McGard) at PepBoys for about $25.
I also got a new one this time. They tried to sell me a wheel, tire, and glass warranty. Said that it would repair glass if I got a chip, and a tire if I got a flat. Only thing about all these extended warranties is that the disclaimers are pages long. They will surely find an out in all of that legal mumbo jumbo. I added up the price of all the extra "warranties" they tried to sell me, and it was over $1500!! That's 5% of the car's value!!
Dealers main money maker now days is financing and warranties. They have about 15 different angles to try everything. Just remember what your decision was before you went into the office. Don't get caught feeling sorry for the guy after seeing his family portrait facing you, etc.

The "options" they sold me after buying were the wheel locks and VIN etching for $100 each. I say "options" because those were actually pre-printed on the sales form, they told me they were options and we could talk about them when I picked it up, yeah, right.
Stuff they tried to sell me during pick-up (which I declined) include a Teflon body-coating for $500, and an extended warranty.
They also tried to get me to lease instead of buy, even though I told them I can't lease because I drive 30,000 miles per year, but they didn't press that one too hard.

Make sure they know your preference ahead of time if you DO NOT want the front plate bracket attached. In CA, you have sign a form stating you do not want the front plate put on and waive any liability from the dealer. Otherwise you might end up with a couple of holes on the front bumper as I've seen in some of the photos on this forum.
As far as options at the time of sale, I was offered Infiniti extended warranty, Mobileguardian (http://www.mymobileguardian.com) which is a GPS-based system similar to LoJack, interior leather/carpet treatment, and xpel paint protection film. I purchased only the 7yr/100K extended warranty 0 deductible since this was brand new redesign with lots of electronics, which are very costly to replace/repair.
Everything is negotiable so try to get the best deal (start at 40% of the dealer's initial price).

Its never a good idea to buy anything from the dealer in terms of extended warranty/protection packages. My friend recently picked a 328i.... it was a steal but then end up tire protection package for $900... car maintenance package (car washing+waxing when ever he comes to dealer) for $600... and all of a sudden it was win for the dealer. I convinced him to go back and get his cash back... which he did. One thing to keep in mind is that if you finance $1000 of extended warranty for five years.... it ends up costing you about $1300 over five years. DONT FALL FOR IT.

That having been said, I wasn't really "sold" on anything given that I ordered one sight unseen. I had to ask for the clear bra, LoJack, etc.
They tried to sell me extended warranty, teflon coating, and clear bra.
No pressure though, the guy gave me a form that said these were offered and asked if I wanted any of them. I wanted the clear bra. At $299 installed, it was cheaper than buying the kit direct from xpel
