Remote Starter in 2007 G35X Sedan Not Working Properly

I don't think my remote starter (Compustar 2-way with no screen, just lights; installed at dealer) is working properly... the rear defrost does not turn on when the car is started with the remote starter, even though I left the rear defrost button on when I was last in the vehicle. The radio turns on, and the front defrost works, but not the rear defrost. Does anyone else have this problem?

Seems to me that when you live in an area where winter includes snow and below-freezing temperatures one of the reasons to get a remote starter is so you don't have to scrape your windows in the mornings. I don't have to scrape the front windshield, but I do have to scrape the back one.

I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer on this issue, but if you've experienced this problem I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Many thanks!

I've never been in a car that the rear defrost will stay on after the car is turned off, it's a soft button. I think you will need something like the Traction Control Memory Module from KP Technologies so that it remembers the on/off state of the push button switch.

On top of which, i think the rear defroster is timed too right? Once you activate the defroster, doesn't it only stay on for like 10 minutes or something?

Yeah, try turning the rear defroster on, turning your car off, and then restarting the car... I am pretty sure the rear defroster will NOT still be on. I am sure you can rig it up to work somehow though...

Correct, it will not stay on after the power is turned off. That's what the backup camera is for.

You need a remote start system with a dedicated defroster output like a DEI system (Viper, Clifford, Valet, etc.). They have outputs which can activate if it is below like 50 degrees when you remote start.

I tried leaving the rear defrost on and then turning the car off/on, and yes, you are correct -- it is a soft button. Oh, well! Thanks for your help!

did you buy your remote starter yourself and have them install it, or did they provide it?

Thanks
