This could get ugly and JUST in case it does, I would like to point out that I think ALL of your cars are beautiful pieces of 'beyond machine'ry!

I think the 2007 G35 is much more refined than the previous generation, and I believe that that is absolutely necessary for them to be competitive in the entry-level luxury segment.

But by the same token, the 2007 also feels quite a bit less visceral and edgy than the previous generation, and to me that made it a little less fun to drive.

So, I think they are both great cars, but for myself, I kind of wish I had snapped up a 2006 at the end-of-year blowout prices, rather than waiting to what the 2007 was like.......

It's really funny to see how personally offended people can get about their cars. People, it's an opinion. Alot of people disliked the first gen g35. I thought the *** end of the first gen sedan was ugly. I thought the interior was cheap so I bought a Lexus IS300, which had nicer looking exterior, and the interior, while not luxurious, wasn't quite as plasticky as the 1st gen G35 (i bought an '02, the '01 IS300s were just as cheap on the interior as the G35 but Lexus remedied that after one model year).

The '07 G35 is a nice step up all the way around. The *** end looks nicer, and the interior is way way nicer, almost Lexus-nice.

But once again, this is all my personal opinion. Don't agree with me? No problem, but don't get so bent out of shape because someone else disliked it.

Does all of this mean the G35 is a bad car? No, but the first gen isn't the car for me, and apparently not for the original poster either.

Agreed. This is all a matter of opinion and certainly nothing to get bent out of shape about. There is no reason that this should get nasty.

No kidding. There's no reason to take offense. I love the 07's, but I will likely be a little jealous when Cheryl's 07 arrives.

The 07 is a step up in so many ways; even so, it's still not the car for me. The previous gens were heavy enough as it is, and the 07 just got heavier. It handles quite well; I had one for two weeks, but it still wasn't "my car." I like them, quite a bit, but not enough to trade up for one at this point.

The '07 is evolutionary in the sense that it is a lot more comfortable and ergonomically sound. In terms of the actual drivetrain there was not a lot of change.

No, the guy is stating that he dislikes the 1st gen G35. Unless I'm misreading him and he's just an a**hole (which I'm pretty sure he's not), any feelings of being put down are entirely on the reader and not the poster.

Many on here prefer the 07 to the previous gen, but they don't go shouting about it. Why not just mention all the good points abouts the 07 and leave it at that.

I guess his mom never told him that if he has nothing nice to say, don't say it at all..
There are many on here that own previous gens and I can see how they can be offended by the negative comments made.

Yea I remember when I drove an 04 after buying my 05. I posted about how much I disliked the 04 and I got flamed for it, like you will. And now I am here to agree with you. I personally think the 07 is leagues above my 05 which I thought was way better than the 03 and 04 cars. Infiniti has definitely done it right on the 07. Just look at how many people are chomping at the bit to trade in their first generation cars for the new ones.

The fact that everyone traded their 1st gen Gs in all of a sudden has cost me about $4000 worth of trade in value on my 05 G in 4 months! Oh well, I will just ride out the rest of the lease and then let Infiniti take the loss.

Personally, I don’t take offense to your post because I think it is true. There are a lot of things even on my 05 that needed to be improved. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who are debating whether to buy an 06 at a huge discount or save up for the 07. My thoughts are you are crazy to buy anything but the 07 now. Just because the older models are taking such a huge depreciation hit right now.

Way to go Infiniti! You have got me hooked on your vehicles. Now all I have to do is find someone who doesn’t think there is any difference between the 05 and the 07 and is willing to pay full price for my car. Yea I know I will be waiting a very long time!
