New G, and Question:
First, I just picked up an 07 sport/auto! Still figuring out all the electronic toys.
A bigger question, it seems like the new G has lost every comparo i've seen. I have no doubts that it's a great car, especially for 35k. However, off the top of my head, I've cried as it's continually beaten by the 330 (winding road, Motor Trend), 328 (car and driver), and the IS and TL (R&T). Most cite the manual transmission or the 'refinement' of the vehicle. Are the bad guys' cars that much better?? Or are there really certain things infiniti could have developed further in the car?

I think comparos are good reading at times, but really when it boils down to it, its just very subjective; their opinions are just that, opinions.
They place emphasis in areas that I and a lot of people could care less about and not enough in other areas. When it comes down to it, mags like Car and Driver have historically just had a hard on for BMW. Tally up their most recent scores between the two cars and the BMW wins by either opinions of style/shape or things that don't have relevance.
The simple FACT is that you bought a car that has more features, reliability, performance and costs a lot less.

^+1. I find that the mags tend to be biased towards BMW as well. I drove the IS350, 335, TL Type S, and the C230 and wound up coming back to the G which just felt the best to me (again it's subjective) and I've been enjoying every moment of ownership so far!

The factors and test that they use in evaluating cars are way above the needs of the average driver. Unless you plan on taking your ride to the track, things like 0-60, .88g and quarter mile times won't mean a hill of beans. And as for the nonsense about refinement-
-for goodness sake, can't they just enjoy the car without needing to find something to harp on? Hey, if other cars owners need to have their egos stroked by having their vehicle ranked #1 in comparisons then more power to them. I'm more interested in the quality engineered under the hood, not the bagde/insignia on it.
That said, I'll get off the soapbox now.
Enjoy your G.

The G is a great car.. but like everything else.. it's not perfect. The other cars that win in the comparos are usually more expensive and dont perform as well in many areas.
Same can be said for the G in many cases. After owning the G for a couple of months now, I can see why it lost some of these reviews. It's not the end all best thing out there.. There are better cars that also perform better in many important areas, and this includes refinement. The G offers great bang for the buck. Great comfort, good looks.. etc.. but don't expect it to best everything on the road.
