Bluetooth Signal Strength Question

I have the Navigation system with bluetooth. I have a question about the display of signal strength on the display.

I recently had my Palm Treo 650 linked up to my car and the signal strength displayed on the screen perfectly. I now have my Cingular Sync linked up now and it doesn't show signal strength at all. It looks as if I have no reception but the phone (and the bluetooth link to my car) works great.

Any ideas on how to get this display to show signal strength? I guess it isn't a bug deal but I figured someone out here knows the answer.

Thanks,
Steve

I think it depends on the phone. I'm pretty sure this is the case with most cars that have a BT unit. I have a Moto Q and it doesnt show the strength, just the antenna that shows it has a signal, but it still works great. The battery meter doesnt update either; it'll only show the battery the phone had when it connected (regardless if the phone is plugged into a car charger).

Definitely depends on the phone. When using my Samsung, the AV screen only shows the antenna symbol - no signal strength meter, no battery symbol, no battery meter.

That phone looks VERY similar to the Cingular 3125 - and mine shows both battery and signal strength...

This answer was a complete was of our time wasn't it.
Sorry I couldn't give you the secret code or something to turn it on.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess I will just live with it and just be happy that it works. I guess I don't need the signal strength if I am getting a signal.

If you go to one of the screens it will show you the battery life, and signal strengh, I think you have to leave it on the phone set up screen. When I paired mine, I saw it there and then it was gone when I went to the main screens. So not any help, but it does show up on certain screen modes. Weird.

I can only see the battery indicator when I go to the 'phone' screen. With my phone (cingular 8525 with windows mobile) I didn't see battery or signal strength until I installed a third party bluetooth utility program.

I have a moto Q and see the signal strength meter on the info screen and the battery indicator when the phone is in use. Signal strength is on all screens.

I havent checked the info screen...I normally just use the "Status" screen where the icon is on top. I might check out the info screen tonight when I leave work...

I got this working. It was because I had the original phone software and hadnt installed the updates. With the updates I now see the signal strength and also was able to transfer my whole phonebook which is nice.

Now if only it would put the phonebook First Name, Last Name instead of Last Name, First Name.

Thought I would mention my experience: Verizon LG VX8100 - works great with the Bluetooth in this car. I have all the feature and indicators working as designed. My only gripe with it however is that sometimes I need to force detection (although I tend to believe the problem is with the phone itself and not the bluetooth system in the car).
