I just found MentalxHealths thread a few pages down.
I scrub this question from the books, before the masses come and attack.
I was just shopping for MPG improvements... really.
And I only read the articles too.

I think your question may be alright, that one just caught the forum on a bad day! I dont know much about these things, but I am with you, I dont think I would trust a $7.49 miracle chip off of eBay...
The VQ35 is a very well tuned engine. I wouldn't adjust its A/F ratio at all on a stock car. If you have some 'breathing' mods I would recomend adjusting the A/F but by using a proven method, not some Ebay miracle chip that will provide unknown results....
From what I can tell this so called chip is just a resister. They tell you to install the resister at the Air Intake Temperature Sensor (AITS). This tricks the car in thinking that the incoming air is colder thus more dense. So it tends to react by addning more fuel. With some older cars or cars that have bad sensors this might help out. However with a newer car the impact of this change will be very slight. In most cases you will just waste more gas as well as there is a chance that the extra gas will wash away the oil film on your cylinder walls at the same time dirty your oil quicker.

Ok, I will be honest here. Back in the day when I owned a small 4 man tunner shop. I used to use the same type of idea on turbo charged cars. I would put a small bleeder/relief valve on the pressure side of the wastegate. This would trick the wastegate in opening at a higher PSI thus pushing more air into the engine. This small trick worked as long as it was adjusted properly, the car ran premium gas and was not over done to allow too much boost.
With 10+ years of modifying cars I would not use this resister mod. However, this is just my two cents.
