POLL: Break-in mileage

I plan to try my best and adhere to Infiniti recommended 1200 mile break-in period.

How long did you wait before you gave it the full throttle? Or when do you plan to if you are still within break-in period?

I plan to stick with what's recommended in the owner's manual.
I'll be keeping this car for a few years -- 1200 miles is not that much -- I'll have a lot of opportunity to open her up later

I'm at 1100 miles and I'm dying to really push it. I also want to try out the paddle shifters.

Goddamn you have patience...

I have roughly 300 miles on mine and I've already red lined it a couple of times - sorry, but when I get stuck behind some slow moron I can't help it but to gun it

I've also noticed that it's much harder to stay under 4,000rpm with the 07' sedan that it was with my coupe - that thing just revs up like a maniac

I'm at 700 miles...

and have been pretty religious about staying under 4k RPM, although it did hit 4500-5000 a handful of times.

Redlined it off the lot! Ok, a little ways down the road. I'm a firm believer in the break it in how you want to drive it. There is support for both ways.

Breakin.......whatever!

I drove my G off the showroom floor and drove it home just like I would if
it had 100K miles on the clock......not redline but 65 to 70 mph for 30 miles.
Normal driving is my breakin then switch to synthentic oil at 1K miles which
includes a filter too. I've never used a drop of oil between changes so I must
be doing something right!

I figure the manufacturer's instructions are stated as such for a good reason. Their R&D budget is a lot bigger than mine so I just waited until 1200 miles.

Anyway my motorcycle redlines at 15,500 which makes redlining my G a little anti-climactic.

I have no patience. The main reason why I picked my G up in a snow storm.
I opened her up a little over 300 miles and I'm surprised that I waited that long. I found a clear stretch and got her up to about 130mph. I believe in breaking cars in early.

Same here, overall I've been fairly easy on it, but at about 450 miles I almost redlined it getting around an idiot on the highway. I didn't mean to, my last car had a turbo and as we all know the throttle is a little touchy in the beginning anyway....

I am now about 100 miles away from 1200, so I'm looking forward to pushing it a bit more shortly.

I had 7mls on the clock when I picked her up. Took it easy
(under 4k) for 1st 500 mls then changed oil/filter. Did the same
untill 1200 mls then changed the oil/filter again. Then I rocked n roll

I did the same, I'm not saying it was easy but it was a reason to go out and drive.
