I want hardwire my portable GPS on the driver side, but can't seem to find any where to tap for power. I looked under the driver dash and the hardness that are under there are near impossible to get to. I blindly stabbed with a voltmeter for a while but couldn't get anything. Has anyone tried this yet?

I wired my Valentine to the main interior fuse panel on the left side of the drivers footwell. Pull up the door trim and remove the side panel. The fuse box is right there. Use a vampire tap after doing some more probing with your meter and you're set. I tapped into the mirror lead but I don't remember the colour. To the right of the panel just under the carpet is one of the cabin ground points. Just follow the black wires. If you remove the rubber door surround up past the dash you can run your wire in there and along the edge of the A pillar to get it to the dash area. Have fun!
+1 on the fuse box - right next to the dead pedal. Pop the sucker open and tap into one of the fuses. I would use the cigarette lighter fuse as it gets accessory power and loses it when you shut everything off. That's the fuse I used to hard-wire my radar detector.
