Just checked carsdirect. Cardirect's price is now below MSRP.

Good for you prospective buyers, but kinda sad for us current owners

Hot cars always go for sticker or close when they first roll out and gradually come down as supply catches up and all of the "gotta have its" have already gotten it.

For my Long Island zip code, MSRP for my car on CarsDirect is $40,515 while the Target price is $39,765. That's about $3000 more than I paid, so the CarsDirect discount is nothing compared to what I negotiated. And I got my car a week before Thanksgiving (2.5 weeks after it was released).

My post wasn't to say that the cardirect price was the BEST price one could get. When I was looking at getting the car, cardirect and edmunds TMV price were at MSRP. Just noteing that now their price has dropped below MSRP. This just means dealers are budging alot more than they were a month ago.

A carsdirect target price is different than a carsdirect price. The target price is like Edmunds TMV price.

Go check a car like a Sentra to see the difference.

What is the CarsDirect.com Target Price?
The CarsDirect.com Target Price reflects a typical, negotiated price (before taxes and other customary fees and charges) generally found in your area for the vehicle that you selected. This price is based on our research and estimates of supply and demand in your local marketplace. There are many factors that go into the final price any specific transaction including local supply and demand. Your final price may differ.

There shouldn't be a fee for being the first on the block. In life, beta testers usually get some sort of advantage. That socks it right in the resale value kisser. Then again, if you leased, who cares. With the high price of a lease, there seem to be many things one no longer cares about!

Keep in mind the car is now 1/2 year old since it's release in October, so prices are settling in to normal, most were able to negotiate a reasonable rate anyway.
