Change of Heart

I bought the G35x in November '06. While I have always thought it was a very nice car, I just had not fallen head of heals for it, as I have with my other cars.

Right from the start, the dash was making some very loud noises. Eventually I traced it to the windshield. After 2 weeks at the dealer, they agreed that it was the windshield. They replaced it and the car sounds and feels tight, as it should.

I drove an '05 model while my car was in the shop and was totally underwhelmed by this thing. My fears grew that I had chosen poorly by buying the '07 G35x.

However, since I got my car back (with aforementioned squeeks gone), I've really started to enjoy this car. I've got about 5000 miles on it and the engine puts out much smoother power. I find myself revving it whenever possible. I do like the rate that the tranny changes gears. One of the better manu-matics that I've driven.

So, I just felt compelled to speak out. I felt like everyone was always raving about the new G and somehow I didn't agree. Just needed a little more time than usual.

Glad to hear that car has grown on you, sometimes when there is an issue early on in ownership it can ruin the honeymoon. A similar thing happened to me with my last car, I had a few issues with VW's coil packs that soured me a bit, but after it was all fixed it was all good.

Sometimes the little things get in the way of the big picture...

As a whole the G is outstanding on so many levels... but we tend to focus on the mats, or the rattle. Not that they're not important or fixable - but when it comes to ride, design, and value - it's head and shoulders above the pack.

ENJOY! Don't look back! Unless, of course, there are blue flashing lights behind you...

Was your windshield creaking? What types of noises did you hear? I ask because I just noticed some loud noises that appear to be coming from the front of the car in front of the driver.

Thanks for the input.

It started as a crackling sound but before too long, it had turned into a full blown creak. Almost sounded like twisting metal.

The dealer agreed and decided to replace the windshield. They told me that they found gaps between the glass and the seals. So, I suppose the gap allowed the windshield to flex.
