At Houston IAH airport, there was an m5 parked on a wide end space with 1/2 the car in the space and 1/2 over the adjacent white striped concrete. I was parking in my end space nearby and thought, nice car. When I flew back in and was going to my car, to my disgust I saw a 3 cent beater squeezed in between the m5 and the car adjacent. This beater was so close to the passenger side of the m5, that they had to get out on their passenger side. It was not even an individual space and this moron parked there.

Since then, on an xtra wide end space, I dont go too far past the end to prevent this. Also, I had an idiot try and do this at the gym, I luckily saw this and went to my car and they backed out...I immediately moved my car over.

So the point, becareful w/ xtra-wide spaces or some zero IQ beater driver will do this to you.

btw, I am in amazement of all the m5s, m3s, benz AMGs, 911s,911turbos, new zo6s etc that are just parked in b/t cars at Houston IAH.. I hope they are leased or very wealthy!

Birds!

I always park very far from people and I still somehow got a ding (actually- I believe the dealer did it when I went in for service but I can't prove it )

Anyways- for some reason the birds at my office have taken a serious liking to the car. One day I came out and both mirrors and everything around them had bird sh*t all over the place. Like an entire flock took turns sh*tting on my car. I immediately washed it and the next day same thing. I parked it where I could watch it and they came back. I kept trying to scare them away (chucking staplers at them - what a sight I must've been) but they just love the car. After three days of this I started parking on the other side of the building even further away. So far so good.

Why do these birds love my car? They didn't touch anyone elses!?

95se - your car is TOO SHINY. The birds like seeing themselves in the reflection.
Sand your car with a 120# sandpaper - problem solved!

BTW, most birds are reincarnated YUGO owners. Have pity on them.

I think we're all the same here. Although I drive an '03.5, I love my car. So, every time I park, I park where there is NO ONE in sight. But there's always some tool bag who parks right next to me! It's ok if it's another nice car, because I know they're just taking the same precautions, but ****! I parked out there for a reason! Also, if I have to park in a congested area, I also give it the go-around, looking for dents and whatnot. It's cool, we're all with ya

Hahaha, it's nice to know I'm not the only paranoid freak around here I'm just gonna keep holding my breath hoping my girl makes it through her life without any needless damage, until of course, forcefields are available aftermarket

Yeah, I always try to do the same, but there is always some sh*thead that decides to park way too close. Like this afternoon the wife and I went to the grocery store and parked way in back in an end spot fairly close to the curb and when we come out there is some POS Expedition parked almost right on top of my car ... I parked back here for a reason d*ckhead!

Fortunately no scratches or dings or I would have gone a bit nuts!

I dont even try anymore. I have learned that regardless some A-hole is going to come park right beside you or leave a shopping cart by your car, something. I just park it... I usually look for spaces where the other cars arent squeezing me in and try to center it as well as possible. I DO look for buicks and the like with big chrome door handles sticking out. I stay away from those and beaters.

Hell, a door chip couldnt look any worse that the grill/hood....

Call me crazy but ...

First of all I do try to park far away from regular parking.

However, if I do get stuck and have to park with the general population. I have a couple of times taken out my cell phone and snapped a photo of the car next to me. But only when the car looks like a possible door dinger. Not sure what I would do with the license plate and photo but at least I have something to show as proof.

To them, it's "just a car" because they're so freakin' rich ...

Anyways, I'm just like everyone else. I park miles away, but if it's a small lot, I'll park as close as I can to where I'm going so I can keep an eye out. Or if I'm eating somewhere, I make sure I sit where I can see my car.

I try not to park next to ANY vehicles. I'd rather put a few miles on the legs than risk a door ding...
