The ONE thing I HATE about my new '07 G.

I panic every time I return to the parking lot (at work, stores, etc) because I'm afraid some jerk either dented or scratched my baby. When I finally catch a glimpse of my G walking back to her parking space, my eyes lock on her and I turn into the Terminator scanning the area for damage, LOL. I then do a walk-around to assess any damage --- fortunately so far, she's been AOK. But people probably look at me like I'm crazy (when I do the Terminator scan), hahaha

Anyone do the same or am I the only freak here?

as am i

i think all of us who own this car are all paranoid to a certain degree. I too try not to park near "beat up" vehicles, showing that the owner doesn't have a passion for cars like we do.

an as always, i avoid all vans, especially the ones with "my child is an honor roll at..." kids just don't see the time we put in our cars

When I stop at TimmyHo's for my coffee in the morning I stand in line but never take my eyes of my G for a second and anytime I walk up in a parking lot and there is another vehicle nearby on any side I am can't get in until I have given it a once over and memorized the license plate numbers around me. I don't think you're alone at all, there is something about this car that makes us all feel over protective parents.

I don't need the terminator scan. I just park in the next galaxy.... where no one is in sight...

I try that too, but it usually just becomes the cool kid problem. I come back and there will be 5 cars parked directly around the G and then no one else for miles.

Why is that?
I too park away from everyone - empty spots for miles...
And some turd parks right next to me. GRRR.

These Gs are real lookers. Better in person than in photos.
Hard not to stare.
Keep up your terminator patrol!!!

LOL, I do the same thing! I even do the "look out for the soccer mom, mini van, w/ bumper stickers, and corners all dented in to hell" parking lot scan. Best thing I've found is to look for an end spot or park between two 4 door sedans of the highest quality I can find because their doors are shorter and the owners are less likely to be tools. Best spot I ever found was just last weekend at the mall when I had a Lexus on one side and BMW on the other. I even thought I picked up the tell-tale scent of Zaino but that was probably just my car!

I think we should start a movement demanding sections of the parking lot be designated for cars $35k and up that the owners go to great lengths to keep clean and scratch free! There would be an armed security team and an electrified fence surrounding it. They could even call it the OCD only lot!

Think you're ****?

Personally I park for no more than a half hr.in one spot at a time and only if I can look out a window and see her, otherwise I'm driveing or it's parked in the garage.Maybe I'll loosen up in a few months, but I doubt it!!

First, I completely agree - I park way in the middle of nowhere, and hike in wherever I go. And it's frustrating when someone parks their piece of crap next to it.

As an interesting benchmark though, a while back I drove down to the Galleria (Houston), and as you drive through the parking lot you find Porsches, high-end Mercs etc., all parked normally. I wouldn't do it, but it makes you realize it's just a car.

turn into the Terminator scanning the area
LOL, this is so funny.
I'm the same way and my wife and friends think I'm nuts.

Last May, I bought a fully loaded Acura MDX and every time I parked it, I was hesitant to leave it.
I'd get half way across a parking lot and see someone park too close to it and I'd start walking back to the car... the wife always thought I was nuts.
I'd get mad at the jerk who parked 3 inches away from it and I'd get back in the car and move it again.

That was just the family SUV!

The wife is already talking about how nuts I am and doesn't want to go anywhere in the G cause I make her walk to far. LOL

I look for the last spot before a curb or something. (Last spot in a row)
I call those "One Sided Threats" as one side is safe from meatballs in POS cars who park too close.

Dude, you're missing the opportunity. Drop her off at the entrance to the store and then go park the G. You get 'thoughtul husband' points, and get to drive the G another 100 yards

This one's easy. Pick a spot at the far right side of a row (the "end" spot) and then park on the far right side of the spot...even better if there's a curb there. Great for at-work-parking where I'm at (Indy), where there's not a lot of carpooling, so only the driver is in the car...the passenger door rarely opens.
