Sorting songs on CF cards
I tried searching it but came up empty handed...
I took the CF cards out of the car so I can sort the songs the way they are listed on the original CDs. I thought that by putting double digits (01 song name1; 02 song name2; 03 song name3; etc. ....) in front of the songs, it would work. To my surprise, when I went back to the car and popped the CF card into the slot, the songs appeared in a random order (neither by numbers nor alphabetically as they originally were).
The interesting thing to note though was that when I copied a new folder containing songs with numbers in front of the song names it worked, but when I tried to sort existing folders it displayed the songs randomly
I guess the only option would be to wipe everything off the card, format it, and then re-copy everything from scratch...
Anyone knows anything about this?

I just checked and yup. It resorts them.
No real reason - I looked at size/name/date modified. No correlation.
The folders seem to be in the right order. But that's about it.
Maybe it's the way the data is embedded on the mp3. The musicbox reads the title names differently than my PC. Might be sorting by name??
Just a guess...

Editing the meta data to correct the ordering of the songs on the CF card was discussed in another thread from January. Does anyone know if this works? What program are you using to edit this data?

You can however, hook up an iPOD or portable DVD player to the Aux ports located in the arm rest to achieve that.

You have to add the files one at a time
I was able to get the proper order on my CF card.
Unfortunately, I had to copy the tracks one at a time. It seems the CF card will display tracks in the order they are copied onto it. So when I copy and pasted 12 tracks, it would put them on the CF card in whatever order it saw fit and that is the order you would see it in the car.
To circumvent this problem, I cut and pasted one track at a time into each folder and that did the trick...
What a PITA!

It worked! For anyone who wants to sort his songs in a certain order (as opposed to playing them alphabetically), just drop 2-digits in front of the song name (on the PC), format the card, and re-copy everything back onto the card.
