Pressure wash
I explained to him that a hack with a pressure washer is just as dangerous as a hack with a buffer.
Pressure washers force water into places it wasn't meant to go.

Every time I talk to them, I feel like I'm educating them.

And, I tried getting all-weather floor mats, they wouldn't go for it.
Seems like they won't offer anything that involves money out of thier pocket, even if it's a small price for a customer's happiness.

I love my car and would do it again in a blink, but their idea of customer satisfaction is stunning.
I feel like I'm back at the evil "Lexus of Northborough" dealership again.
But, that's a long sad story I need not go into.

I sent my pics to a pro I know in MD and it turns out these are not swirls, but rotary holograms.
He said that if I was to strip the car's wax/glaze sealant the dealership used, I'd most likely find more.
It was suggested to have a pro machine polish the entire car.

Protection Plus wants $355-

I have an email in to the General Manager, as he was off today.
If I can get Jon to work the car at the dealership, I'll try that.
If not, I'm gonna have to have the pros do it and zap the dealership with the bill.

I find out in the AM how the dealership wants to handle this.

I've still not gotten so much as an appology.
oh well, hopefully this all gets corrected soon.

This I believe, because it's happened on my wife's black Sequoia before. If I were you, I would strip off all of the wax (Dawn), restart with Zaino, and you'll a) get rid of the swirls, and b) have a rockin' finish on your G.

In fact, that's what I DID do

that would just be a temporary cover up fix though. The fact remains, the clearcoat is damaged and needs to be repaired. and it wasnt his fault! the dealer should fix, or pay to fix it.

Yeah... paper trail.
Start sending them faxes to the attn of the general manager.
Then talk about going to the Better Business Bureau for resolution.

I've used the BBB several times (not Infiniti related) with excellent outcome.

Sorry this happened to you - let us know how it turns out.

Are you sure? It takes some work to actually damage the clear coat, and misapplying wax is common.

i'm sure. physical swirls like that are microscratches in the clearcoat. the only way to remove them is a wet polish or a respray of the clear (which would still require a wet polish). if the scratches are not deep enough (and they probably are not) then merely a good wet polish should do the trick.

idiots should stay away from oribital polishers. here's how i envisioned this happened:

"Heya Chuck, whatcha doin?" <loogie>
"Oh, just cleanin' up this here G thirty-fiiiive, Cletus." <spit>
<random stupid conversation ensues while Chuck sits there with the polisher doing nothing and the polishing medium just flings off, effecitvely turning the polisher into an orbital sander>

im shuddering at the thought.

As for BBB, screw them. threaten to call Infiniti NA, the local newspapers, etc. I'm pissed for this guy. The stealership should own up to their mistake. it's a cheap fix for them to do, and worth a lot more than the lost customer(s).

No, my point is, are you sure this is the problem here. It's possible, but the dealership would have to be total morons to let some idiot loose with an orbital buffer. Much more likely someone put on a fast hand wax and did a crappy job.

Most are hacks...........!

If this were my car I'd find a reliable qualified detailer and have him fix your
swirly paint.......then hand the bill to the stealership. You have pic of what
the prep hack did.......you don't want to give him another chance to make it
worse......and he will!! Get the job done correctly and stay away from the
dealership.

I was not able to buff the swirl off, so it being wax is out of the question.
I cleaned the area, then I hand buffed it with an extra fine swirl remover and then went to town on it.
I "dawn"ed it to strip the dealers glaze off.
I then clayed, hand washed with a nice Zaino car wash, and then washed again.
Once dry, I laid on a coat of Z-5 and then some Z-6.
The sun is not blazing today, so I'm not able to determine if the swirl is gone, but the Z-5 did an awesome job making it look like new.

Dealer has agreed to a full detail/polish.
Waiting to make an appointment.

In the meantime, I'm waiting for some sun.
If it looks good enough, I'll tell them to forget it.
Better to be happy with what I've got than to give them a chance to hack something else.

Uploaded some pics on the pic thread...

Sucks to hear. I took delivery at night and it wasn't until the next morning that I noticed that they did not even remove the remaining glue from the shipping wrap! My dealership told me to bring it in for a detail, after watching their guys detail another car I decided that I should just go home and give the car the TLC myself. After a few hours of washing/claying and a few coats of Zaino I was very happy with the results.

Best of luck with getting your issue resolved. Creating a paper trail is definitely a good idea. At the end of the day, if you had to have this type of annoyance when purchasing a new car it's your responsibility to let Infiniti know, don't be bashful on your survey, if Inifiniti doesn't know there is an issue how will they correct it?

Well, there was a lot of conversation as to what may have caused the swirl,so I figure this deserves a follow-up.

I spoke to the general sales manager.
With the help of the reconditioning shop manager, they were able to trace back exactly what happened.
When my car came in and was taken off the truck, a small surface scratch was there on that rear pillar.
The guy who was given the job of correcting it was a complete moron and the wrong pad was used, causing the swirls.

It's going back in a few weeks to correct it, but for now, 4 coats of Zaino have completely hidden the swirls.

Like the thread title states.... Prep guy is a hack!
